1. capture on HVX200.
2. insert p2 card in pc laptop (pcmcia)
3. copy, paste on to hardrive (will upgrade to p2 Genie)
4. view on p2 viewer
5. format p2 card (still makes me a little nervous)
6. transfer to external hardrive and plug into Desktop
7. convert clips using Connect HD (Cineform)
this process seems extremely cumbersome. The most I can convert at one time is 5 clips or it crashes. I shot all day last week and had several hundred clips organized by card and separate folders. When the files convert to .avi they are in the original folder with .hvx files and I then Move to a new Clip folder.

Then I have both .avi files and HVX files to store. Looking for a more efficient way to store files.

Finally, I am trying to decide on the Cineform Aspect HD for conversion and enhanced speed with Premiere Pro or DV RAck for conversion and direct to PC recording capabilities.

And really finally, without this discussion board advancing to the next level would not be possible. Thanks all.

I don't want to sound like a salesman but P2 Genie (Win) can copy, verify and format the P2 card in one step.

For a more efficient workflow you can look at a few different options. First, consider ditching Premiere Pro and going with EDIUS Broadcast; you'll do away with all file conversions and have realtime playback right from the card or from the hard disk, and no duplicate files anywhere.

Second, if you really are wedded to Premiere Pro, consider a Matrox Axio boardset. It's not inexpensive but it does provide hardware acceleration and native MXF import/export.

And yes, P2 Genie does make it simpler and easier to handle P2 card importing.
