Hello all,

I'm interested to see how long does it take to stop recording, change CFast card and start again.

Thanks in advance on all posted times

i am also interested to know how long you can record on a 64gb card shooting UHD 4k with the internal mp4 8 bit codec...

also with the mic holder, do you find that you still need to add rubber o rings on your microphone in order to fit inside or does it fit most microphone snugly without adding anything?

64GB SDXC card equls 56 minutes record time UHD .MP4
I don't put mics on cameras generally, I only put them on boom poles where they belong ;-) You can do the rubber O ring thing but I just used a few layers of gaffer tape. Either work fine. I just kept the gaffer tape on the mic since my Rycote mic suspension mount for my boom pole easily accepts it too. I find the mic holder on the camera sticks out too much when mounted up high on the touchscreen arm, if you aren't careful, you could snap it off, it's more out of the way down on the lower mount near the XLRs. The only sound that should be recorded on the camera itself is scratch audio so I just use the internal mono crappy mic, it works fine ands is out the way. I don't like that Canon now makes you take a deep dive into the menus to turn on the internal mic whereas on the C100 you could just flip the little mic input switch, that was a bad design move. Sound mixers don't have time to delve into menus when they disconnect from you and you are going camera mic to record some scratch audio.

Is there a downside to just leaving the internal mic on all the time? I've got 1 XLR going to channel 1, the 2nd going to channel 2, then the internal mic going to 3 & 4. (I haven't found a way to have the internal mic go to just one channel.)

Nothing wrong with that, if it works for you?

One caveat though, people forget the internal mic is on all of the time, there is this thing called "set gossip" and I have seen people get fired for it. People trash talkingor gossiping about the clients, talent, director, producer, fellow crew member to their friend on set in whispers. That stuff gets recorded and anyone down the line in post, guess what they might hear? If you just shoot OMB, no biggie, but if you are on sets with crews, be careful what you or anyone around you says.
