Pics from Italy

Re: Pics from Italy

Yeah. I stayed in Rome for the week, but went out to Monte Argentario and Portabello. I wish I could have went to Venice and some other places, but I was filming a groups trip, so I couldnt really go out on my own except at night, and I sure wasn't filming then!

I'm a junior in college, and last year the first thing I ever did with a video camera (cheap sony mini dv) was a documentary about different preachers and priests in my area for a religion class. Well, the Catholic priest liked it so much that he offered to pay for me to go with his group to Italy and film them. The guards at the Vatican were going nuts when I walked in with my DVX and DV rig pro. I guess they thought I had a rocket launcher...

That's fantastic! I wish someone would've paid our way there. I would've loved to have a DVX in Venice, although one more backpack full of gear would've been one too many.

Great looking grabs. I noticed on one or 2 of the grabs the framing wasn't quite level. I've had this problem using the DVRigPro since the support is in the middle allowing easy tilting from side to side if your not careful. Have you noticed this as well? I'm looking for some kind of small leveling sensor to mount on camera to alert if it's tilted one way or the other. Just some thoughts. Sorry to get off topic. Loved the grabs.

Ransom, yes, i definitely noticed this. I was unable to bring my tripod, so I had to rely solely on the dv rig pro. Some of my shots are not quite level. I bang my head about it now, but I was franticly trying to keep up with a group and get ext. shots at every place. I find it is very easy for the camera to tilt a little, which messes up the shot. I just need to work with the dv rig pro a little more to get the hang of it.

For me the black and white shot of the traffic has some special effect....gives a professional feeling. nice shot.
