Let's leave the socialism out of the argument please, no politics.
Any and all training (including education) is an investment. If you have thousands of dollars to buy a 5D or 7D package and 135 bucks to get trained, with any self motivation at all you should be able to turnaround and get paying gigs that will more than pay for your equipment and training.
If you don't want to pay the monetary cost for the training, pay the time cost instead and teach yourself, but the idea that someone should put a lot of work, time, and effort and turn around and give it out for free is a slap in the face to Mr. Bloom.
Ps. I paid my own way through college and not once did I meet a "penniless" student.
