Periodical Workout Thread ...

i would just like to report in for Easter 2008.

I didn't consume any chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, or PEEPS!

Instead, I had plenty of ham, salad, and chicken. I had one small piece of carrot cake.

I think I've finally pulled out my sweet tooth (or at least I can control it now).

So how are you guys doing?

Yesterday was killer. we did this workout:

Workout Of the Day

Fun Friday!

The 15,000 lb workout, for time! Between you and your partner you are going to have to move a combined total of 15,000lbs. Only one person can work at a time. You must stay with the same weight on the bar for the entire workout.

Sumo Deadlift High Pull - 1000lbs

Jumping Squats - 2000lbs

Shoulder Press - 3000lbs

Thrusters - 4000lbs

Back Squat - 5000lbs

So me and a partner each had 50lbs (bar + weight) and we did sets of ten back and forth. It took us 12 m 30secs and I can barely walk today. The best time in the gym was around 6 minutes...so I've got a ways to go.

I also threw up afterwards. haha

After beeing sick for two weeks I could finally go to the gym again. That felt sooo good! But I was also quite weak, benchpress was a mess. Anyway, will get bakc to a normal schedule now =)

Just got back from the benefit ride for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society I'd been training for. Approx 104 miles Sat and 53 miles Sunday. Sat was my first "century" (100 mile) ride and I completed it in under 6.5hrs of pedal time (my goal was 7hrs) and the ride Sunday took about 3hrs and 15 minutes. No flats and no injuries helped make it a very good weekend. The icing on the cake is that, to the best of my knowledge, I was the only one to do the complete 150 on a mountain bike. I become known as "that mountain bike guy" and got props from a lot of other riders for hanging w/their road bikes on my heavier, slower bike.

Been playing lots of basketball this week; two upper body workouts as well, also ran an 8:36 Mile on Thursday (Total 2.10 Miles)

The red wine is helping too.

i'm going to try my hardest to make it to every session this week (mon-fri).
my class starts at 7am, so it's tough to get out of bed most of the time.

my legs are way sore from friday still. gotta love that feeling!

Darn film shoot all weekend has messed up my routine. I suppose I have to learn how to start working around shoots...

Of course, working as a grip on set is quite a workout in and of itself.

aw man, i slept in this morning... there goes my once a day workout routine.

working as a grip is way more exercise than my job, which requires that i sit in a chair.

So my legs finally recovered from last friday's workout. I wasn't ready for such an intense workout, I shoulda gone easy. Oh well, I took it easy today.

The weight: 65lbs
The goal: lift it from ground to overhead as many times possible in 10 minutes.

so i was basically doing clean and jerks for 10 minutes. I did 65.

then we had a 400m run for time. So I just half-assed it for a time of 1:21
ya a girl beat me, so what?

Soon enough I'll be back at full strength, it's just so frustrating because I want to go 100% sooo bad!

Back in the saddle today. Bike saddle that is. After giving my legs a couple days off I rode to/from work today. Nothing to strenuous (it's only 6 miles each way), but I did kick it up a notch on the ride home (especially up the hills). I need to put the bike in the shop for a few days to get it worked on but after that I'm looking forward to "hill hunting" (shorter rides focusing on, you guessed it, climbing) and getting in some off-roading on the weekends.

Sorry I've been missing out on this thread. Sick as a dog most of last week. Getting back to normal now just feel like a truck hit me. Was able to hit the elliptical Tues and Wed and already once this morning though for a good 30 minutes at a leisurely pace. I'll go again tonight for another 30 and do a little interval work with it. Tomorrow my goal is to finally start my pushups and situps and do some light light strength training.

The low carb thing is fantastic and I'm finding all sorts of low carb things to eat or ways to just avoid them at all. Like dont eat bread. Wrapping up some turkey in a slice of cheese tastes really good. I eat that at least twice a day right now. This 5 meal thing is feeling great. I can definitely tell an energy level difference and just dont feel sluggish at all. Much more motivated to go do stuff too.

Glad to see everyone else is doing some good workings out too. Keep it up!

I found this for those who feel daring:

“300 Spartan Workout”

25x Pull-up +
50x Deadlift @ 135lbs +
50x Push-up +
50x Box Jump @ 24” box +
50x Floor Wiper @ 135lbs (one-count) +
50x KB Clean and Press @ 36lbs (KB must touch floor between reps) +
25x Pull-up
300 reps total"

You do this for time, no rest in between if you don't have to.

I don't even know what some of those things are.

LOL

I've played more basketabll in the last 2 weeks than I have in 18 months. Loving it.

Still haven't broke 8:36 on my mile. I have to suck it up and push it harder.

Deadhangs

3 Sets of 6 on Tuesday. Hurts so good. :Drogar-Angry(DBG)::furious3::Drogar-Thinking(DBG:Drogar-Shock(DBG):

we should make a "DVXUSER" workout.

that would be pretty cool. then we could post our best times and have a little friendly competition.

it would have to be excercises we could all do (like pushups, situps, running, etc).
would you guys try it if I made one up?

I'd definitely try it. None of this 50x 24" box jumps crap though :)

haha i hear ya. how about this? it's something we could all do at home and it would be relatively quick.

"24p"

For Time:
24 pushups
24 squats
12 pushups
12 squats
8 pushups
8 squats

I'll do mine on saturday since I usually have that day off. Be sure to time yourself, or have somebody time you! If you need a break, take a 3 second rest and get back at it. You'll find that long rest periods make it harder on you.

and then post your time here, good luck:violent5:

edit: I also stress that you concentrate on your form above getting a good time. Bad form is just cheating yourself!

and if you're not shy, why not film yourself doing the workout and posting it up on here? I might try that.
