Pentax k-5 Any specifications?

74Mbps m-jpeg looks great, I much prefer it to H.264, it looks a lot more analogue/organic. How does it look at ISOs above 1250? say at 2000 and 2500. A manual control and 24p hack would make this very tempting over the 5D. What's the aliasing and moire like?

I wonder . . . this is about the same price body only as the 60D.
M-JPEG vs H264
Better ergonomics vs Better? compression?
I didn't see too much skew in those clips, and AF I can live without. Didn't use it on my HVX, don't use it on my 550D
Waffling a bit, just thinking out loud.
Could this be a viable alternative for someone (Not me) not comitted to Canon?

That's why I put question marks around "better" and "compresion"

The potential of an I-frame codec vs the efficiancy of long GOP, marred by the lack of B-frames.

It's a complex issue, which is why I posted as a question seeking answers not as a statement of fact.

Just carifying my post, rather than getting hot under the collar.

Bump
Any more info on this cam?
It looks like it could have potential, especily if Vitaly get his hands on it!
Dave

i think we have to wait until the new firmware is online, which is coming soon (mid-november).
it would be awesome, if vitaly could enable full manual aperature controls.

i'm going to buy this cam now :)

I hoped a new Pentax firmware update might include manual video exposure, it's a much talked-about feature request, but it doesn't. Shame.

Still, with a new firmare available to down load, it gives Vitaly something to get his teeth into :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I updater firmware decryptor to fully decrypt firmware for K-5 (it is available on my site).

Hope to post new updated Fujitsu processor module for IDA. As soon as I find free time.

Very interested to see what you can do with it, Vitaliy. I've always had an soft spot for Pentax and like using the old prime lenses I have. With it's high datarate (and some people prefer the frame-by-frame m-jpeg codec) the K-5 could potentially be a good starting point camera for a hack?
Cheers.

I for one would support the bejeezus out of this. I love mjpeg and that it shoots in 25p is a blessing for me. All that's missing for me is manual control.
