I saw this lens in the used department of my local camera store. It's in mint condition. He said he sell it to me for 50 bucks. Is this a good lens on t2i? I think I've heard good things about it. Thanks in advance for any comments.

I'm interested in any thoughts on this as well. I currently have the pentax smc 50mm f2 but I'm wondering if I should get this one instead.

ive heard great things about this lens on a 7d, my buddy uses one all the time and loves it.

I've got one from the old pentax kit I learned film photography on, it's sharp enough for video and the speed is great. The bokeh on it is weird though when not wide open until f4, there's only 6 aperture blades and the corners don't meet nicely until f4. At f1.7 they create a circle so there are no corners and the bokeh is pretty nice wide open. I use this lens primarily wide open anyways and for the low cost of the ebay mount adaptor it was worth the small investment.

I've attached a still I shot the other week with the lens wide open on my t2i.

I'd say pick it up. I have their Super Takumar made in the early 70's and their 50 f/2 and they both have excellent optics. I imagine the same is true for the 50 1.7.

I just picked up a yashica 50 1.7 at my local camera store for $4.50, along with a 28 2.8 and a 135 2.8, all $4.50 a piece. I just ordered the adapters so I haven't tried them,but I'm thinking I got a pretty good deal.

yeah, I live in a retirement community, and the store doesn't get many shoppers looking for used glass. The guy said they have boxes in the back full of old stuff(lenses) that no one even knows the exact contents of. They mostly get older folks selling used gear. Most of thier stuff is under ten dollars. I think I'm gonna have a lot of vintage glass soon.

If they have a box in back, I would just make an offer on the whole thing and check Ebay prices on those lenses. Chances are, even if you can't use the lens you can flip it for a nice profit.

I have one for my GH1, much better (sharpness, contrast, and color) than the Canon FD 50mm 1.4
