I recently shot a short at 720 24pN and downloaded the cards to a usb hard drive on a PC and backed up to dvd+r.

We are having trouble loading the files into final cut on a mac - the hard drive cant be read by the mac and the dvds are having issues - is it try that mac only reads dvd-r?

What would be the best way to get these files into final cut?

thanks

No the Mac should read Dvd+R as well. Mac's should read PC harddrives just fine both FAT, Fat32 and NTFS. What problems are you having?

I will have to find out more specifics from the client - He said that both were unreadable - when I talk to him i will post more specifics

Recordable CDs and DVDs normally use the ISO-9660 file system which is readable on both PCs and Macs. There is no good reason I can think of why the Mac shouldn't be able to read the disk.

info from client was wrong - they were readable but he couldnt get the files to play - didnt have the DVCproHD codec installed - he does now and all is good -

thanks for the help

Tip - when I send portable hard drives to clients I include readme files explaining how to do it, as well as notes, return info, and anything else that would be written on the outside of a tape case. Readme files are your friend. ALSO I include the P2 software. (I hope that is not a problem with Panasonic) I also have a folder labling sytem that incorporates the rez & frame rate. Getting the client familiar and comforatable with the workflow is by far the greatest hurdle with this camera, so giving them as much to work with ahead of time is the key.
