Panny never sent me my "free" SDHC card

I have enjoyed my HMC150 plenty, so wouldn't hesitate to recommend it - but am disappointed that Panasonic never got round to sending me my free 16GB card... two and a half months after I sent off for it.

Why a company claims it will give you some kind of bonus item, then not bother to do so, I don't know.

It's no huge deal, but an unfortunate blot on what was otherwise been a good experience.

EDIT - The strangest thing. It arrived today - one day after I posted this.

So, it took two and a half months to get here. Close call. I leave the country for good in four days.

Not a fan of rebates, or promotional items that are sent later.

I wish all companies would handle this type of marketing in a more expedient way.

I have yet to recieve mine, now past 2 months later. I even sent it back after I did not fill my serial number out right. I filled the thing out twice, still have not recieved it.

The fine print says you have to wait I think 12 weeks? It took me two and a half months to get my rebate.

Companies don't seem to realize that what should cost them only a small amount of profit, ends up producing an untold loss of goodwill between them and their customers. Rebates - much less slow rebates - produce ill will that lasts a long time.

BTW, I haven't gotten mine either. Maybe Panasonic is waiting for the inveitable price drop on memory cards. As if a $39 is too much to give back to someone who spent more than $3000 to buy your product. It looks petty and is petty. Insulting too.

While Panasonic is certainly not the only company that does this, one would think they would be above that kind of behavior.

I just got mine via ups 5 minutes ago, but sent in my rebate August 5th.

I called the panasonic rebate department about 5 weeks ago to verify they had my rebate and the lady said that all of these cards were on backorder...not sure if I buy that, but oh well! finally have another card to add to my collection.

Same here. I called and she told me last Friday that they were on back order. Problem is that you end up giving up waiting and buy the 32GB you need before the 2nd 16GB shows up.

yeah same here. been waiting atleast 6 -8 weeks so far. hope i still get it. in the mean time i jus got 2 - 16gb class 4. $29 a piece

Normally it does take about 8 - 10 weeks to get this through the system. Not unusual at all.

Glad you got it.

How do I send away for the card?

How do I send away for the card?

Just bought the hmc150. How do I go about s ending away for the card? I cant find any info on this anywhere? Thanks!

Yea, It's been about 10 weeks since I sent in my 3 forms for the free cards, still no dice. I sent it in the middle if Feb. I hope they come soon.

Well, guys, I just got my 16GB Class 10 SDHC card! So it took something like four months (maybe a couple weeks longer, I can't even remember when I sent it in, but I'm pretty sure it was before New Year's). Just keep hanging in there.

I'm sorry, this is poor. There is no earthly reason it should take more than 14 days to receive ANY rebate. The fact that it is seen as "normal" makes it even worse.

If Sony can put an SxS card in the box Panasonic can certainly put an SDHC card in the box.

Setting up promotions as a rebate has certain advantages that may not be immediately obvious.

- For a short term promotions (ie: free SD card): when you factor the stock between the factory, manufacture's US warehouses, distribution, dealers, etc., it's virtually impossible to have a uniform promotion that includes "freebies" in the box for the end users.

You will have dealers with previous stock that doesn't include freebies, ones who sell out before the promo ends, ones who don't sell out and have stock with freebies after the promo ends... exactly what happened with the AG-HPX300 + (2) P2 card promo. There's no quick or easy way to make it uniform.

- Registration. Most people don't register their equipment. Even if it effects the product warranty (+2 years warranty on registration, yes?), it doesn't happen. So, registration provides the manufacturer with invaluable information about their end users, distribution of the product, their marketing, etc...

It also helps with the warranty claim process if there is a warranty issue...

It also helps deal with the gray market problem... helps track stolen product...

Add "freebies" through a rebate upon registration (it used to be the rebate was the registration) and suddenly you have a LOT more participation. Everyone wins.

- And yes, as Modus mentioned, any manufacturer offering a rebate expects that a certain percentage will never turn the rebate in (or at least in time). Which in turn saves the manufacturer some expense. I will say though, that Panasonic has been very good about honoring rebates sent in after the promotion ended, as long as the purchase qualified, so in this case it would be more for those who never send a rebate in period.

Those are just a few things to consider, as to why these kinds of promotions are offered as a rebate.

It would be nice if they gave a longer time period on the rebate forms, since the rebates almost always take longer than expected.
