pankake alternative

I love the 20 mm panasonic pankake lens it gives beutiful pitchures i use it all the time when iam taking stills, but to be honest not very good for shooting video, the quality of the pitschure is still very very good but autofocus is to slow and noisy and manuel focus is not very easy casuse you dont have any stops on the lens. But i love the look that the lens gives so i wonder if there is any alternative out there which gives the same quality and look as the pankake but a lot easier to focus manuel. Any suggestions? about 20- 25 mm at least and 1.8 and the beatiful sharpenss and look that the pankake gives.

Please tell me pitschure was spellcheck run amok.

I've given up on finding an alternative to the pancake. There just isn't a lens south of a grand that's that wide, fast and sharp. And I'm not sure the actual price for all three isn't a lot more than that.

If you like the look of the pancake so much, try working with it some more. Yes it's focus by wire, but you can deal with it. I manual focus the pancake all the time. It's not that difficult.

I have SMC Pentax-A 20mm f2.8 connected to the GH2 via Fotodiox adapter. It wasn't cheap as other vintage lenses on ebay simply because its one of the best 20mm lenses ever made :). Its not a pancake but its shorter than the 14-140 @ 14mm (including adapter). I used it for more than a year on my 7D. I never leave my home without that lans.

Since Pratica b mount lenses where hard to adapt to canon (no focus to infinity) they are still around. A Zeiss Jena Prakticar 1:2.8 20mm for Praktica B mount could be very interesting on a GH2. I haven't seen a review though.

Also very interesting: Olympus Zuiko 24mm and 21mm f/2.0. These ones are very compact. I owen a 28mm f/3.5 pancake from Olympus. I haven't tried it on the GH2 because the OM adapter is backordered.

Nikkor 28mm 2.8 and Nikkor 50mm 1.4 using the Fotodiox Nikon to m4/3 adapter. Lens in great shape on Ebay or Craig's List - $75.00. Fotodiox - $25.00 on Amazon.com. Image quality and ease of use - priceless!

The sigma 24mm f1.8 is actually pretty darn sharp at f1.8. I think they also make a 20mm and 28mm that perform similarly.

What he said. that's a pretty astonishing lens ^.

Other than that, it's the 25mm Voigtlander Noktor f0.95 on m4/3, just released and being snapped up like hot cakes right now.
