Peut être une AF200 avec capteur S35 et monture M4/3 afin de pouvoir toujours utiliser les objectifs panasonic comme la JVC LS300 !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling like it's gonna be a raven competitor, but could also be an alexa m/mini fighter as well. Atleast that's what I'm reading from under the sheet.

More like the latter. All in one box with some sort of limited high frame frame rates, 4K/60p, PL mount , around 25K USD. Still a high end camera as with all Varicams. Anyone expecting a cheap Varicam is not in their right mind. Thats like expecting a cheap ARRI :)

I'm not sure Panasonic is looking to compete in the FS7/C300 range, or at least that they figure that the AVX200 does that already. A Mini competitor would make sense, since they've already basically made it. The V35 brain is small enough and only needs a CF body, couple outputs, and a CFast slot.

Got to play with the VariCam Lt today. Unfortunately I cannot add anything to the conversation as my NDA runs til the 11th.

I spent a good deal of time with the Pana engineer who created Varicam last February and was able to add a lot to what I thought it should be and what I'd want. Theyve delivered that and more IMO.

just answer this:
should we be excited? :)

my only question at this point is will it be a PL mount only system like the Varicam 35 or will there be some IMS system or something that allows the use of Still lenses(zeiss or leica).
I the Varicam 35 is an amazing camera, the only barrier there was the PL only lens mount. If the LT allows the use of say EF mount glass. It'll be a success.
It's a Varicam so NO it will not be in the fs7 or anything black-Magic Price point, Varicams have never been "Me too" cameras but they've always delivered spectacular images

Yeah, the FZ system on the F55 is great. The adapters can be expensive, but it's better to have the option built into the design of the camera.

Hopefully it's at least two of the things that I told him at NAB '14: Global Shutter and swappable/universal lens mount system. But I guess we'll all find out tomorrow...

Very interesting. Sounds like they've packed a LOT into a small package. External raw recording (presumably to the Odyssey7Q et al.) down the track. Up to 240fps (in cropped sensor modes), full-featured proxy recording, built-in NDs, the 800/5000 ISO, EF and PL mounts, built-in ProRes.

Between this, Scarlet Weapon and the F5 - there are now some serious mid-range options available.

IMO sensor crop is the way to do HFR rather than the mess that is swapping OPLF..

Sounds like they have aces/luts down, and lutted proxies

Design by adults maybe?

Well Arri gets away without resorting to sensor crops, but perhaps that's simply down to more expensive electronics (hence the price premium). But definitely, cropping (to a reasonable standard like S16mm at least) sure beats swapping out OLPFs or copping awful aliasing artifacts.

Pannie have definitely been listening to operators' requests, and that goes a long way. That said... are they simply too late to the party? I've spent the last two days visiting every rental house in my city, and the Varicam has seemingly close to zero traction in the market down here. Will be interesting to see if making it so much more affordable can turn the tide.

Simply the alexa has a bigger engine' than the F55 so can read the full sensor at all rates, (I guess) .. im just saying if you run out of horse power (data read speed) then crop is better than skip.

I dunno, from an operator point of view, changing scanning modes (with the option of changing OLPF) may be something you never even notice depending on scene content, but a huge change in FOV/DOF you will always be something that is a pain on set and somewhat discontinuous on screen. I shoot overcranked all the time on Sony and hardly notice the difference on HD projects as long as I shoot and am aware of the possibility of higher noise or more aliasing. If HFR was crop only, I'd still get more noise but also have to deal with carrying and changing more lenses and compensating for changes in DOF and would probably just not be able to use HFR as much or nearly as conveniently.

Yep it might be great. But you are at a level you will be only buying if you know you are getting on a varicam 'show'

For 4k aquisition where alexa/mini is ruled out the big and little Varis probably make a pretty compelling case.
