Honest question....can someone clarify why the heck full frame(full format) over S35 for video?
And because they can charge more for it

Good specs but still it is a DSLR... the perfect shape for taking stills photos.
I cant really see a way to use it - it is a awful as all the other 'DSLR' cameras.
'EVF' in wrong place
Cant easily get multiple signals to 1ac and director
Impossible to make a nice rig
No ND
etc etc.

My favorite of the Panasonic videos from yesterday :

I agree that a shouldercam has a lot to recommend it,
But ever since I read of a guy walking backwards onto a street and being killed by a car, the way such a camera blinds your peripheral vision freaks me out!

Im not a fan of full shoulder cams - too big and heavy but your DSLR rig looks non functional to me
In the sun..
You cant put your eye to the internal VF (batts in the way) or see the flip out monitor.. you are basically dead!
If you put a box over the flip out to make a poormans 4in monitor -it would be too flimsy to use
If you need an external monitor for a director.. or even a wireless video transmitter you wont be able to angle the screen like that cos it will clash with the HDMI
and of course you would be in even more of a mess if you had to add some more crap like audio
This form factor basically leads to needing to keep the flip screen closed and not being able to use the 'evf'.. which then drives you to an external monitor and/or offboard monitor.
At that point you have bought two viewing systems (with the camera) that are unusable.
I kind of think maybe the FS100 had it right in the small camera form?
With the FS one had a little monitor and if you wanted to 'build' you could just close it and carry on with your box camera which you would then build out.
Right! With longer focal lengths I still got too much unwanted movement, I was always fighting horizons and whether a shot was level and on set, it was too easy to get in the way of production when using one. I tried shooting monopod again on a shoot at a hotel in LA that was hosting a distilled spirits tasting. Shot with an Canon 85mm 1.8 prime and a DSLR and even with the monopod, was still getting micro jitters all over the place.
I see ads and videos for this thing every day, I don't get the appeal? I tried shooting with a monopod in Africa, shooting 12-14 hour days on sets in the hope of reducing fatigue by not having a camera on my shoulder all day and while it wasn't this version with an gas lift spring and foot pedal, which would make a bit quickler to deploy I suppose, I hated shooting with a monopod.
