GH2 Panasonic GH2 video review - Can it be used on the run?

In my professional role as a video journalist I use a Sony Z7.

Now after a lot of deliberation I finally settled on the Panasonic GH2 for personal projects.

Anyway, while I haven't had a chance to put the manual settings through their paces I was interested to see the kind of footage I'd be able to get whilst out with the family - as in, not having time to set up precision shots...

I used both the 14-140mm kit lens and a the 20mm pancake lens and am really impressed:

Thank you for sharing your observations about the GH2. Great to see what a competent little camera it is with just auto settings in the hands of someone who knows what he is doing. And thanks to your wife for her patience!

The Image Stabilization for the GH2 is pretty amazing. This footage helps me believe that even more. Some cool shots in there.

Good question. With my Z7 I shoot everything in 25fps - basically UK broadcast specs.
With the GH2 I'm hoping that Panasonic will see sense like they eventually did with the GH1, thanks to campaigns by sites like this.
However, I'm not shooting for TV with the GH2, the kind of films I want to make in my spare time will be for the internet, where it's not an issue. Besides, in my opinion as things become more and more cross platform and home computer integrates further with TV, frame rates over here might move more in line with the US.

sure, and the US will start using metric system.. tell me another one! :)

I do see quite a bit of "jitter" and "jerkiness" in your footage, do you ever shot with a slower shutter to get more blur between frames?

Err... as explained @wheatgrinder - this is just a quick test whilst out with the family. I'll post something a little more sophisticated soon. Although, I don't see much jitter, other than perhaps the first sequence and that could be an FCP export issue.
