GH2 Panasonic dmw-ms1 mic

So i have a gh2 and just ordered a gh1 and i need a mic for on camera audio. I was wondering if this mic is worth it since it is only $95. Has anyone used it? How is it compared to on camera gh1/gh2 audio? How is it compared to other mics?
 
I have the Panasonic mic and, while I am no no audio expert, I definitely think it sounds better, is more selective, and has less noise as compared to the built in GH1 or GH2 mic.
 
well thats good to hear. i film a lot of skateboarding so do you think it would be good for shooting action sports?
 
i also have the panasonic ms1 mic and it works fine for what i use it for,also i have the same mic but different medel number that has a 3.5mm end for my TM900 its cheaper to buy that the ms1 just have to get a adapter to fit
 
i think i may get it and try it, i would love a rode videomic pro but really can afford it right now. thanks guys! any other advice is welcomed.

I use this Panasonic mic on the GH2 and find it rather noisy but if you're recording loud scenes that shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone confirm whether clean (low noise) audio is possible with the GH2 for example when using the Rode stereo mic or when using an XLR adapter box with pre-amp?
 
Yes i just wish the RSVM was not so big and heavy,performance wise i find it as good with my GH2 as with 4 different cams i have used it with.
 
I know I sound like a broken record, but you have to ask yourself, why buy a mic when you can have four mics and a flash recorder for the same price, the Zoom h2
