GH4 Panasonic discovered a fix for the audio buzz!

I got a phone call today from the panasonic engineer who had originally called me about the buzz issue when I reported it on their facebook page. He said that they had found the cause of the buzz and indicated that it was a relatively simple hardware modification to eliminate the buzz. Anyone with the issue can call the service number (800 211 7262) to report the issue. It will require sending your camera to the texas service center. He also said that the email about the issue and the fix just barely went out to the CSR folks, so when you call, they may not be familiar with the issue yet, If that's the case, he said to tell them you need to speak directly to the service center in texas and that they are aware of the issue. He also said there is currently no backlog for gh series repairs so turnaround currently is 1 day.

HUGE KUDOS to panasonic for following up on this, I never expected to get another phone call about this issue.
Thanks also to all those who spent time investigating the issue and reporting on panasonics facebook page.

Hi, Thanks for posting this. Do you think they'll fix the audio buzz problem with the next batch of GH4's? I ask because I'm planning on ordering one next week.

Let us know if your camera has the buzz or not after you get it…..

Where is the Texas service center? Do they have an e-mail address or website?

There were a few different buzz issues with the GH4. Which one does this actually resolve?

I remember Eric, Dave, and others reporting an issue with some shotgun mics recording a buzz. I also remember there being a post about a buzz when listening to audio through the audio out in headphones. Does this fix just one or both of these issues?

I'm curious when they're going to get this into the shipping units as well. If there's some sort of internal tracking#, we might be able to find out what serial# it was fixed in. I had a suspicion this was a hardware issue :-(
Glad Panasonic went and found it though...they could just have easily denied its existence until the GH5 was released like a lot of other companies (e.g., Nikon's D600 shutter dust/oil issue, etc.)

Seriously? I just received a GH4 on Monday. Haven't yet imported any footage to the computer. Can someone explain what the audio problem is so I can test for it. And it would kind of suck to have to send in a camera already. UGH.

I live in Estonia, so yeah, don´t know where to turn with it.
We have Panaservice here, which deals with fixing Panasonics stuff, but Im sure they are not aware of the problem at all. Right now I have DMW-MS2 on order from them, payed half the price already.
Damn.. Reckon I should call them and ask them for the fix? Or might as well wait if the mic arrives and see if the problem affects their own mic.
