Also something people were missing from the c200 included in this is timecode in/out.

I'm not a Blackmagic fan at all. But apart from the ISO features, what does this camera have over the latest Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K? If I'm not wrong the Ursa also works out to a bit cheaper. Although I don't really know as I don't follow Blackmagic.
It was never intended to be a fully "concrete" announcement. It was intended to be a "preview".It was the lack of concrete announcement.
You do not know the reasons why they didn't announce that. You are assuming. They can't state what dual ISO levels there will be. Meaning, they haven't gotten to that point of development.
You are once again assuming. You don't know what there will or won't be, in the way of autofocus capability. As I have said repeatedly, there was a good chance that not "all" would be revealed, and it looks like I was right. No mention of AF capability. Meaning, they haven't gotten to the point of development.
Why didn't you assume on audio then? I mean, even the cheapest Panasonic has 48khz 16-bit stereo, so we can assume it'll be at least that good, can we not?I didn't hear anything about audio quality ( which is the easy part).
Perhaps we have a case of mismatched expectations. You were apparently expecting more to be released than they were expecting to release. They did exactly what they've done before, with the HVX200 and other cameras -- a teaser, then a preview, and then later down the line more final specifications will be revealed. This is how they work, this is how they always have done it.All I heard was marketing keywords.
Does Panasonic have a track record of missing their deadlines? I would say that's one thing you can count on -- they will release it in "the fall". That could mean as early as September 21, or as late as December 21, but they will make their promised deadline. One word of caution to them though (Barry). "IF" they get delayed on this camera, by any measurable amount, it will be suicide.
Six weeks. May seem like six years, but it wasn't, it was only a few weeks ago. They teased us with the blankie picture for how long?
No. This is the Preview. You can look forward to a more detailed reveal closer to the ship date. And this is the reveal?
Yeah, it kinda smacks of desperation to announce a camera so far away from actual production/drop date. Of course we know Panasonic is desperate.
The sensor and the electronics package are not finalized, so if they release sub-par footage because of this people would crap all over it.
Tuned in a bit late, does it have an eye piece/EVF? I didn't catch that portion or see anything that showed it having one.
All in all, quite interesting. It's a difficult decision between this and the C200 for me as I'm more event work oriented.
Yes there is image stabilization.
I cannot tell you more than what has been publicly revealed.Barry....
Will it auto focus?
I explained long ago why there most likely wouldn't be footage.
Sony has already put the FS5 on sale with a $1000 mail in rebate which will buy an atmos and still be way under 8k, along with a free metabones ef adaptor and 0% financing for 24 months, for Panasonic to compete this camera needs to be at $6k.The Canon C200 has AF, and color, at the same price Canon will win especially if canon includes the XF AVC codec as promised, unless 240fps in 2k is important to a buyer.
I cannot tell you more than what has been publicly revealed.
Barry, you need to channel your inner Mitch, like this, "It will focus."![]()
