"Hey guys, it's getting kinda crowded here at NAB and our new cameras always get lost in the noise. What about if we skipped NAB this year and announced our new camera at Cine Gear instead? That way we will have the whole stage for ourselves."

"That's brilliant! We will surely outsmart all the other manufacturers with our cunning plan!"

"...wha? Oh g------it, Panasonic! Ok, push it to Saturday, instead. And we'll have a round number for the time. Who's gonna remember 4:15pm?! 6 is a nice, Sony-authorized number."

1000 posts! Sweet.

Well, SSDs are pretty big which makes the camera and support bigger. CF2 is just like SSD but, well, CF-sized.

But remember the newer SSDs that aren't in SATA-drive-sized packaging, instead in M.2 PCIe form:

And Panasonic could house those cards in something like the SpeedDrive housing VideoDevices uses for mSATA drive/cards...

Lots of ways to package the little memory chips for cameras. I guess we'll know soon if we like what Panasonic chose to do...

Agreed...but judging by the size of the lens the camera is not that small....the LT is still a big camera...just small relative to the Varicam...personally hope its not the size of the Kinifinity Terra...if it gets too small, it starts defeating the idea of a dedidicated Cine Camera ergonomically...

You know absolutely zero about its image quality. Why do you come on here and make such authoritative-sounding statements on subjects which you cannot possibly know about?

Well..... neither do you, correct? He's certainly not the only one to sound authoritative on this thread. Regardless, I think most of us are plenty smart enough to know what's conjecture and what's not...

He's quite right about one thing - most initial footage, even from cameras that eventually become very respected, usually looks bland. I suspect that he's also right about the specs being similar to the GH5.

And as another poster pointed out, the C200 does have footage available, which is an advantage in marketing (even if it's not as spectacular as samples might be a year from now). Perhaps not having footage for announcements in the past was normal, but this is a cut-throat market right now. All of the camera companies have taken beatings in the past couple of years and thus any edge has gotta be an advantage. Most, if not all, major lens releases now have sample footage in spades (Fujinon's new zoom had a veritable avalanche of footage from all the big names).

In other words, lack of footage is a negative, regardless of stats, regardless of company, regardless of product. Might not be right, but it is real.

Mitch seemed very confident...and he's a member of this community....also he mentioned that this camera was already well into developement when he came onboard with Panasonic...me may at least see a live view of a set by now...I can't remember Panny missing deadlines like BMD & RED...in order to release in the fall, they have to have more than a dummy up, especially after building this and other threads up, or the marketing tactic could backfire

They didn't release anything but mockups behind glass for the GH5 for many months, and it worked out VERY well for Panny. Granted, the GH5 is a very different market with different competition, but it's best to go into today's announcement with as few preconceived ideas as possible, despite how excited we all are for it.

Don't worry, guys! In my opinion, according to my sources, I was told by a Panasonic rep that there will be a short film along with the reveal. The film was written by the Coen Brothers, directed by Martin Scorsese and lensed by Vittorio Storaro.

Everyone is going to watch this livestream for the new camera, I wonder how deep they are going to burry the lead? I am going to lose my mind if I have to watch 40 minutes of mundane power points about upcoming firmware for existing equipment beforehand.
