I don't know if I have been focused on DSLR video but I have a huge urge to saw the top handle off and wish the eyepiece was more on the side.

*We need to see some images before we start to talk of competition with Scarlet. Who knows it will look like GH1 footage with better sound. Its not 3K+ for one thing. Its ultimately a video camera with a lens adapter, Scarlet is very purposely a Digital Cinema Camera.

Still excited though.....

How'd you guys implement an ND filter? Between the sensor and the rear lens element? How did it fit back there with no flange distance increase? Will this affect future lens design? It seems like it could affect people wishing to use C-Mount lenses with the system.

Also what is with the attachment on the front of the 14-140mm lens in the render?

I hope it has ISO controls :D
now i have a dilemma where to buy wide lenses for m43!

BTW
Jan if this has a touch screen lcd.. this will kick so much ass.

I'm sure it's like most Bayonet mounted video cams... Physical filters between the sensor and the lens mount.

If the FFD does increase due to ND filters, then it no longer is m43 but rather some other derivative of 4/3. Right, C mount lenses may be affected, but that's not my concern as I don't own any.

Thank you so much, Panasonic. I am sure I can speak for everyone in saying this is a perfect solution for independent filmmakers and film students. Your cameras are already so great; I was not expecting something like this for another few years. Panasonic continues to lead the innovation in making prosumer video cameras, and that's why I am and always will be a loyal customer. From using the DVX to the HMC150 that I now currently own and love, I can't wait to get my hands on a AG-AF100 when it comes out. I have to admit the whole HDSLR boom had me worried for a bit. What is this I'm reading about a wait list? Can someone explain? Thanks.

They are saying it's a micro 4/3 so I guess it must be. I'm sure we'll know more details as time progresses.

I don't know much about the 4/3rds lens selection. I am a canon still photographer with some "L"s. Are there many lenses on the market for 4/3rds cameras?

Or, will the camera be designed around a versitle zoom with a wide end and medium tele?

Actually you can virtually mount any number of lenses to a 4/3s imager. We have PLs, Nikons, Canons, Olympus and Zeiss in the display case. In general, go with what you have or need. It is a very cool situation. The flange back depth is what makes the DOF closer to the 35mm image.

Best,

Jan
