P2 Store as 32gb card reader (MAC)?

Even though the P2 Store is limited by it's small storage space, it seems to me that it could still be useful as a P2 card reader if it can accept the newer larger cards. Although it only has usb connectivity, could it not work with a mac to xfr files?
Does P2 store as a card reader only play nice with Intel Macs or just older Power PC macs? Does the usb 2.0 interface really slow down performance?
This could bring new life to what is becoming an obsolete piece of hardware.

Yes it'd work for that purpose. And yes it'll work with larger cards. And yes the USB means it'll be slower than, say, a PCD20 (which has firewire 800). Macs aren't all that fast with USB. But it'll work.

Ya' know.... I used to be happy to see 1 gig a minute transfers over USB with my mac from a P 2 store. Anecdotally, recently I have seen transfers of 16 gb cards in about 9 minutes over usb 2 through my mac mini desktop ( leopard) from the P2 gear. Using the P 2 gear in USB host mode transfer times vary depending on the drive being written to but can be as fast as 1.3 G / min.

The point is that USB 2 may not be quite the turd that I thought it was, at least on the mac side. Seems like leopard may have fixed USB 2 implementation on macs- and broken some other stuff...
