P2 Rookie needs some help..

Yes, I have RTFM..I have a P2 Reader connected to my MacPro, I have forked over the $ for Raylight, it has scanned and found my "no name volume." What is the best way to now get the footage onto my external media drive? I did a test, and then deleted the test clips from the P2...then my media was off-line in FCP6. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Copy the contents of the p2 reader to your HDD.

Then rescan using Raylight.

Once you have, the mxf files are accessed in the user/shared/raylight folder.

That is detailed in the Raylight instructions.

But there's no instructions on copying p2 volumes to your HDD. Raylight needs the original or copied volume to create the links to import.
 
Not sure I 'm following..after copying files to HDD, do I recsan the P2, or the HDD? Also, when I copy the contents of the P2 to the HDD, is it OK to drag and drop into a new folder, or is this what Barry Green warns against in the above sticky? How do the .mov files get onto the scratch disk for FCP?

Copy the whole p2 volume to the HDD while write protected and mounted. It should say "NO NAME"

Then scan that volume which now is a folder.
