P2@Premiere

I know of a number of Premiere users (myself included) that would be happy to learn that Adobe intends to fully support the HVX in all of its modes; but to date, I have not seen any definitive answers.

Adobe has been very quiet about this. But if they don't announce anything soon, I think they're going to lose a lot of customers.

I'm afraid Adobe is going to just sit back and let third-party developers take up the slack. Matrox already has a solution for Premiere so Adobe will be SLOW to do anything.

Premiere Pro 2.0 should be out in 1-3 months. The new video collection is slated for that time period.

Can you point to any sites or information that backs that up? I'm not being smart.....just looking to find info about PPro 2.0 and haven't been able to track any down....not even rumors.

Thanks

Can you provide any links that actually reference a 2.0 version of Premiere? I would be very interested to confirm its planned release and list of capabilities.

http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/main.html premiere pro forums - there are a few posts there, also there is a guy who wont post the collection info but will e-mail it. Through all my research and talking to adobe reps, this appears to be true. Also, Adobe has discounted Encore which indicates new encore version as well. Total Training guys dropped the price for Premiere Pro training a few months ago. I have seen footage of AE 7 being demonstrated for Flash developers. You probably wont see a official list of features until right before the release of PPro2.0. Every adobe rep has told me "yes" to Premiere Pro 2.0 coming soon. (usually 14-18MO product cycle).

I still think the Matrox Axio solution is one of the best out for PPro & DVCPRO-HD

I went to the forums, but didn't find any threads that directly address this (did find one titled Premiere 2.0) but nothing definitive inside. I will be awaiting an official announcement and hope that they do fully support DVCPro and DVCPro-HD.

Fingers crossed!

I have reason to believe it's coming very soon as well. Definitely not within the next month though.

Do you have reason to believe it will support DVCPRO-HD and P2??

:)

In case *they* are watching. I'll add my name to the list of hopefulls awaiting for full DVCPRO supprt from Adobe. I love their products dearly (and have used every version of premiere since 4.2) and don't hope to change any time soon.

for what its worth I read on the CreativeCow forum that some adobe rep said PP2 will suppodrt DVCPROHD. But at this point its all hearsay.

To corroborate what soarpod said, I just noticed that that the Adobe website now has posted that the new 'Adobe Video Bundle' will be announced in 'early 2006'. You can add your name to a notification list for when it's available. Looks like they are going to buncle Macromedia Flash Pro 8 in with it. No feature list though.
I, too, hope they provide codecs for the HVX rather than leave it to a high-priced third party. I'd rather not jump ship but that could be a deciding factor.

I guess if they were going to bundle Flash with Premiere Pro 1.5, they would have done it by now. So I'm hoping the new bundle will include the new version of Premiere and hopefully, it will support DVCPro-HD. Axio is nice, but probably more than most of us want to spend.

I still think they should at least make an announcement soon, because judging from this thread alone, there's a lot of people looking for the exit sign.

I also heard from one of the adobe reps specifically addressing DVCPRO-HD: "So will adobe support DVCPRO-HD and the new Panasonic HVX-200?" "Premiere will support all DVCpro codecs." Now the PPro person in me says this is probably B.S., but he is correct about Axio - which supports DVCproHD. Now, what about DVCPRO 50.

Remember, I HAVE seen (and many others have as well) After Effects 7 - lots of Flash integration. It would be insane yes insane to not have a new version of every product in the video collection if not to just have flash integration (which is simple thing to do in Premiere Pro - which means much more development of other features). I have also heard that PPro will be integrated with Encore and have full DVD mastering support in PPro 2.

When Video collection 2.5 came out, PPro jumped to 1.5, Encore to 1.5, Audition to 1.5, After Effects to 6.5, Photoshop 7 to CS. All the products went up a version.

Premiere Elements 2.0 recently came out as well with some interesting new features (specifically new DVD authoring features)
