P2 Media Crashing FCP

I have a lot of P2 media that I've imported without any major problems into FCP. But there is media from one card that crashes FCP every time I try to import it.

I can view the media with P2CMS so I know it's there and appears to be fine.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be causing this, or a work around to get this footage into my project?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS.

There are lots of workarounds. FCP's importer sometimes fails to import clips that are perfectly good, that play in P2CMS or in the camera, etc. So the workaround is to not use FCP's importer.

You can use HD Log, P2 Log Pro, Calibrated's MXF importer, Raylight, or MXF4QT. Any of those will let you work with your footage without having to use FCP's Log & Transfer.

Not really, I'm not an FCP user at all so I don't have any specific recommendation. You could ask someone like Kevin Railsback (n8ture on the boards), I know he has both Raylight and Calibrated, he might be able to give you a good recommendation. I think Shane Ross uses both P2 Log and Calibrated, so he might be good for a recommendation too.

Solved!

Solved!

I was looking at the MXF files in this folder and noticed one was only 32K. I said to myself that can't be right. So I pulled it out of the clips folder, tried importing again... and voila!

Obviously that clip had some bad mojo that making FCP very unhappy.

Thanks for all your input guys.
