I know this has been answered before, but I can't find the post: why am I having to render a clip when it came straight from P2 to FCP ?

That is because your sequence settings do not match the clip attributes.

The better question is what did you shoot with with the cam and what are your sequence settings?

Try right clicking on the clip in the browser and find the menu choice that reveals its properties.

In the browser right click on the clip and go to Item Properties, and Logging Info, or whatever the first option is. This will tell you the frame rate, compressor, and all the other vitals you need. Though you could just figure this out based upon knowing what your camera settings were as David mentioned.

Once you've figured that out, just use the Easy Setup feature in FCP. Select the correspdoning DVC Pro HD choice. This will help align FCP in all aspects for your footage. Your imports, sequences, and outputs should all be happy at that point.
