P2 and Premiere CS3

I use Final Cut Pro (very successfully) for editing my P2 footage but I need to work out how to import my P2 files into Premiere CS3.

I am talking about Premiere on it's own on a Mac or PC with no third party hardware support.

Initially I want to import DV footage from the P2 cards in my HVX200 via Firewire.

Also it would be good if I could import the footage either as .MOV or .AVI files regardless of platform (Mac or PC). I thought I read a thread on here that said you can select which file type is created.

Is any of this possible with Premiere straight out of the box (does Premiere recognise P2 cards) or do I need third party software to make it happen?

Thanks

Personally, I just drag the MXF files onto my hard drive and then onto Premiere CS4 from there and away I go!

Dragging/dropping from folders directly in to CS4 is a way to go -- and it's how I do things in Vegas and how I did them in CS3. However, I highly recommend using the Media Browser in CS4. It will offer you control and organization you can't even imagine until you've used it.

Thank you everyone, I tried this earlier with my Mac version of CS3 and it worked perfectly, even bringing in the audio too. I was expecting to have to bring in the audio separately.

I'm very excited by this.

Thank you once again.
