Organising P2 workflow

I'm still pretty new to the HVX, but was wondering if there were some tips about organizing the footage to help with post. Typically I get clips with random numbers and letters, any way to set up some sort of naming convention, at least to have them in some sort of chronological order?

Another question, I'm going to be shooting in Africa, and I'm going to need to get footage transcribed/translated, any ideas as far as timecode goes?

last question:
Whats the easiest way to Mount Fire store? I want to be as mobile as possible.

As far as naming my footage since I'm on an apple I choose the workflow that gives you .mxf's as well as duplicate QT clips.

Personally I import .mxf's to my external sorted by date/reel numbers then I import the footage in FCP via log and transfer, from there you can title your clips and they will retain the name you gave them in your capture scratch folder.

But this is only assuming you're on FCP, you never specified.

It would be helpful to know what NLE, etc. on what computer?

Easiest way? There is only one way to mount the FS-100, but that would depend on what you shot and on what platform.

Fcp

Fcp

I'm using FCP 5.1.4, I upgraded to 6 and was having audio sync issues with my dvx, are they're advantages for upgrading to 6 for HVX?

I will be bringing my laptop, and a couple external drives on location, and will be doing most of the editing when I return on my Mac Pro.

Planning on shooting 720/24p and doing some over crank 720/60 and pulling it down to 24.

The log and transfer box in FCP 6.x permits you to rename clips as you log them.

JimmyBox or bebob FS box (google them) are good solutions for mounting the FS-100.

"Any ideas about time code?" -- is there a better way to phrase that question?
