Ordered the sd pix240 from b&h

The usual litany of suggestions for a monitor -- 1:1 pixel display for focus assist, wave/vector for monitoring. Trying to get it all accomplished in one device to make it irresistible...
I agree that a decent field recorder + monitor combo can be irresistible. I talked to SD too trying to find out about the monitoring functionality, but it seems that SD does not really have this competency. The PIX display is really for menus and upgraded visual control. I hope that they can either grow in-house competency or piggyback (partner) with someone like Marshall to bring a decent field recorder + monitor combo. I doubt either will materialize in 2011 though...

They had an Avid DNxHD option for $100, but that still recorded to QuickTime .mov. Have they added an .AVI or .MXF option? That would rock.

I scored this 7" articulating arm from COOLLCD.com for US$31.90.
It arrived in 48hrs from mainland China to Australia by DHL.
Just what the doctor ordered.
It works really well.

All ready for the PIX 240

Between the Pix220 and the Samurai.... Still on the fence. Curious to see what your experiences are with the 240!

I sure wish the Panasonic cameras were as well designed ergonomically as that JVC... Those things are a pleasure to use...

From what I saw at NAB it's way more intriguing than the Samurai. Plus Sound Devices gear is just gorgeous- old school Braun/BMW handmade.

My company is going to implement these across the country. The idea is to be able to use any camera (w/ SDI) with any director and have the media comeback edit ready. Ship one drive to the home office and one to a remote editor. This will shave day(s) off my editorial delivery time. The only challenge is field backup. The file sizes are considerably bigger than AVC. Just a few more drives to ship. I just wish there was a USB 3.0 to thunderbolt adaptor.
