Ordered in the UK

Interesting how dominant the ZU1 is though. I must have counted about 100 of them at the show. Every stand had a ZU1 on it.

Sony sold 40.000 units of them...Al those ZU1 are already in the market.

I spoke to a BBC producer who says the BBC are looking to buy the HVX200 in large quantities. He said they have been happy with the ZU1 but want 25P for some drama work.

BBC did not bought the DVX100 after testing instead they bought the Sony PD150, I wonder if they are going the Pana-way this time, it would make a difference for all the 16:9 SD broadcasters in EU.

I understood from the head of engineering in Holland (NOB) that HD broadcasting will remain in the 'laboratory' until some experiments during the summer Olympics and not before 2008.

Except that the BBC already have loads of Z1s.

Maybe... Although Sky are launching their HD service soon, and the BBC are trialing it this year - most likely on their free satelite service. Almost all flat panel TVs sold in Europe are "HDready". So despite the EBUs lack of foresight (about a year ago they weren't planning to encorage broadcasters to introduce HD at all!) I think commercial pressure will speed through HD rollout in Europe much faster than origially anticipated.

You were so excited, that the link you attached directs to a skin care product website with Vanessa Williams advertising it. :)

Anyways that's good news, let's hope the same is true for other parts of Europe as well

WOOOOHOOO! ProAV (www.proactive.com) are now selling the HVX200 for £3500. The camera is shipping from Panasonic on 17th March, and I should have it by the end of the month. Fantastic.

Hey, Alex, how much is the taxes there in Great Britain? Is it something like 17-18%? If something like that, then the prize is actually quite good!

Tax in the UK is 17.5%. £3500 is the price without tax... but I'm registered for VAT, so I can reclaim it anyway.

Personally I'm quite happy with £3500.

Yep, thanks for the info.

Haha, I think I've seen this product in some absolutely ridicilous cheesy infommercial with Jessica Simpson. Do people actually get enticed into buying products by this kind of footage?

To get back on topic I believe that the price will drop just a little bit more before the product actually start shipping in March-hopefully!

Hey Alex: 2 questions:

Do you got any information from your dealer how they adjusted the package prices here in europe after the price drop?(lets say for a cam in gb with 2x8 gig cards..!)

and 2nd: you spoke about a shipping date:17th of march-is this just a guess of your dealer or something that was fixed by pana?

thanks for your help..this is really important for us, cause we are going to do a documentary in the beginning of april....!

It's a done deal with prestons. £3500+vat.

They also doing 12months deferred payment.

They said about end of feb beginning of march but I personnaly doubt that, but who knows.

Hey Alex,
I am waiting over here in germany for the pal-model to come out...i got just old prices from dealers: do you know how much a package with for examole with 2x8 gig cards will be?-would be nice to know if they did any adjustments after the price drop.

2nd really important question: you said that (from what i guess) the dealer got the information that the cam will be shipped the 17th of march-is this just a guess or more or less sure??(this is really important to us, cause we are going to start a documentary in the beginning of april..!)

Thanx a lot Alex!

I'm not certain what the package prices are. ProAV said that the 17th is the date that Panasonic Europe say they will start shipping the HVX200E to dealers, and they expect to recieve them within 5 days of that date.

ProAV said that we are likely to get the cameras by the 31st. They negotiated a deal with Panasonic on Thursday and were told that the cameras would ship from Panasonic on the 17th and would take about five days to reach them. Give or take a few days.

Sorry to hijack this thread. ;)

Are there any reputable dealers in the UK that sell over the Internet? Specifically I'm looking for a few reflectors (like Photoflex). ProAV doesn't have them. Anyone else? I spent a couple hours yesterday searching online, but most (almost all) UK retailers don't sell online.

A friend is visiting home in the UK, and I'd like to purchase a few things, and have them delivered to his house, so he can carry them back with him when he returns.

Bit of offtopic here but today I spoke with the Local dealer here, Techno BG and they mentioned:

HVX 200 Pal - 5990 EUR + 20% VAT
4gb P2 card - 570 EUR + 20% VAT
8gb P2 card - 1260 EUR + 20% VAT

Those guys are ripping us off! Still if someone is registered here can get the VAT back

Those are pretty good prices, I mean I was afraid it was going to be a lot more.

I mean 570 euros is pretty close to 650 dollars. Of course the tax is high but this is Europe...
