Ordered HMC from B&H

I actually called Panasonic to ask if Amazon is an authorized reseller, and they said Amazon.com is not. He verified that if I purchased from Amazon.com that I would not quality for the rebate. Hopefully those of you that bought from amazon.com have luck getting the rebate anyway.

So, I checked Adorama, and they are consistently out of stock. I checked Willoughbys, but they just seem too shady, and they are charging more than B&H anyhow. I called Videotex (I think that's the name, that Mark VonLanken recommended) and the salesman said he would check on them and call me back right away, and never called. So, I'm one of the many on the B&H list.

I agree, while it's not a necessity (other than impatience to get a new toy) to get mine quickly, I'm sure hoping it comes before 4/15 so I can join in on the rebate.

For anyone wanting a more definitive update:

I spent about 45 minutes on the phone - was transfered from B&H to Panasonic to the actual NJ reseller supplying B&H (in all, 7 different phone numbers!) and eventually spoke with the man actually delivering B&H's shipment.

He confirmed it will be delivered "later this week", more specifically, Thursday or Friday. :)

Awesome news! It's especially good news since B&H will be closed from April 8th through April 16th for passover.

So, if it's not shipped by 4/8, no rebate!

Anyone who purchased thru Amazon received their rebate for the HMC? I know in the past, rebates for other Panasonic proline camcorders that were purchased from Amazon processed fine..

David: When I placed the order, the fine print on the product page said Purchasing from Amazon LLC..

The same link to the same product page today shows it being purchased from Willoughbys and the price is now $400 more as well..

How does one tell if it's the camera is a grey unit?

I've seen that camera on Amazon.com, with it saying it was shipping from an amazon warehouse. Those are the purchases that the panny rep told me wouldn't qualify. It might work just fine though. I haven't tried. At least those of you that bought from amazon are using your camera right now, while I'm still waiting :-(

If it ships from Willoughbys and not an amazon warehouse, then the rebate should be just fine.

I also thought it was the serial number that controls booggerg2. The reason I say that is because BH Photo, which is authorized, had some issues last year when it appeared that some 170s or 200s were grey market.

When they were attempted to be registered, they couldn't be because of the serial numbers.

BH made it good though.

Just another heads up I ordered mine from vidinc.net which is authorized and I received my camera with no problem. They also attach the rebated form with your invoice and they have them in stock for 3145 with free shipping. In case you need the cam now or you just want to make sure you get the rebate.

Also not to bad mouth B&H but they can be rude sometimes and they do not always know what there talking about. BUT if you want to make sure you can get your item you cannot go wrong.

Hmm well my HMC had the sticker for online registration to receive the 3 year extended warranty.. I registered it and all seems good.. I guess it's just a matter of whether Panny will honor rebates for non-grey cameras from amazon.com.

Awesome. I just found out this place in 10 mins in driving distance from my house. Plus it's the cheapest so far. Granted I'll have to order it online to get the "online deal" only. If they have them in stock I'm ordering mine today.

Thanks for the link.

No problem Lee I am just glad you actually decided to look them up. People are still complaining about waiting for weeks for B&H to have some in stock.

Yeah, that just sucks about the tax. I"m so use to ordering everything off amazon, ebay, and other online store where taxes aren't ever a problem.

:(

I checked Amazon, Vidinc.net and several other places, and they all have them in stock right now. Getting frustrated with B&H regarding STILL being out of stock, I just called. The rep on the phone said they are expecting some by the end of the month, and wasn't even totally sure about that. That's cutting it really close for the 4/15 rebate deadline, considering that B&H is closing on 4/8 for a week.

I'm thinking about canceling my order and getting a refund to order from somewhere else.

Check Full Compass as well. They shipped me two HMC150s, one came last week, and the other better come today or I am going to go find a brown truck somewhere and kick it. Their price was pretty competetive, and their sales people are very helpful.

Lee you could try having someone out of state order it for you (if you know anyone out of state) and then just pay them back through paypal or something and have them ship it to you when they get it. It would be a little longer and maybe too much of a hassle idk but if you like this place thats once way around the sales tax.

if you get it shipped to same state address then sales tax will apply.

Every state that has a sales tax also has a use tax.

If you run a business, or are buying it individually, you have to pay that use tax.

It isn't worth it paying the additional penalties if you get audited.
