or Sony RX10: What we've been looking for from Panasonic?

Question for those who are using the RX10 with an external recorder: I'm a little leery of the Micro-HDMI port. Is the connection solid enough for regular use, or have you found it to not be a problem in practice?

Another BIG plus that I dialed in last night.
I was at first very disappointed that there was no access to movie mode as a button option.
We got GH3s just for slo mo initially and the ability to call up the FR options on the fly was really important for the outdoor stuff we produce.

Then when I got a break to work with customizing things, I realized the RX10 is like no other camera I've used in this regard.
It allows a snapshot of all parameters including frame rate, and amazingly - shutterspeed.
Now I have a full slo mo preset sitting on C2, A single click away from movie mode that's always set to 24p.

I can't tell you how many times, on the fly with outdoor and sports documentary work, when I've wanted to switch quickly to 60p, either the shutter speed got F'ed up or not returned switching back to 24p.
I'm not aware of another camera that allows "one-touch" slow motion.

Absolutely awesome.
And as I keep tweaking, I'm getting wonderful skin tones.
I've got a new Filmconvert setting that is fantastic...looks great cut with BM footage.
Who'd have thought for $1300, a FF guy falls in love with a S16 fixed lens Sony.

please post film convert settings

Sorry Jimagine,
I should have posted about the "C" settings long ago. I did this first thing when I got the camera. And it does in fact work a treat.

Ah, gotcha.
ANd what Jimagine is speaking of is the Custom functions ability to store the shutter speed between them. So say C1 is 60p and you store 1/120th and C2 is 24p and you set 1/50th, switching between the two will set the stored shutter speed you set. It's quite nice.

Thanks for clarifying that. I forgot there's an actual button marked "C".
I aways have the main setting for filming set up as 24p so it doesn't reset on shut down.
I don't mind that with C2 because I'll only grab that when I want to grab some scenes in slo mo

This is exactly the situation I found myself in when I was doing the last two Olympic docs.
There were lots of times and difficult locations where only one camera could be, no crew and I wanted to cover some of it in slo mo.
Whether it's from a kayak or a ski jump, that stuff is always outdoors and always set at the lowest ISO, so it's ideal for a locked preset w/ 125 SP.

Speaking of - any sense yet what the native ISO is for the RX10.
Sony's pretty mute about the actual design of this camera.

Pretty damn impressed with it as a still camera. Not bad at all.

I can't figure out the custom settings. it says go to memory in menu. I get there but how do you set & store the settings you want?
I set the shutter speed but can't get it "stick".
