optimal settings for main concept DVD

hey everybody, ive got main concept within vegas for rendering out to dvd.. i was just wondering if there are optimal settings when rendering out from using the dv50 codec.. i increase bitrates slightly and have all settings correct for a progressive 16:9 dvd etc.. but it seems the final file after, looses quite a bit of sharpness ..especially from the dv50 original. I know that compression kills a bit of quality always, but it seems to loose too much...

Bit rate is dependent on the length of the video in total minutes and the treatment of audio, ie aiff or AC3.
