One take music video

Hi, just released a music video we shot a few months back.

I was the photographer and did the post production. It has been a while since I worked on this so it would be really nice to get some feedback now as I have distanced myself a little.

If there are any technical questions I would be happy to share. Hope you like it.

I really liked it! The music and video both were quite cool!

The only thing that bothered me a little was the lip syncing. Sometimes it was a bit off, but I know it is quite difficult shooting faster and then slowing it down afterwards. Especially in a one shot video!

Great video all in all!

That was awesome! I can tell a ton of work went into planning that. Really great. I also liked the song quite a bit. I'm just curious how many takes you did before you got it right?

Thanks alot for the kind words!

I actually don't remember how many takes we did, but I think it was about 6 finished runs and 10 attempted. Luckily we didn't have anything that was hard to do all over. No explosions, stunts or messy stuff we would have to clean up.

Lucy is sitting on a trolley, 1 meter wide 1 1/5 meter long (3x5 feet) with rubber tires. We had rigged a chair for her, the camera, a 800w medium chimera, playback and a fan (which we didn't use) on it. And I walked/ran with it through the halls.

The lipsync was something we discussed in post. It is sometimes a bit off, and we have corrected a few larger errors, but the idea of the video was for it to be a dream-like setting, so I personally thought it worked with a sort of "off" flow. But some have noticed it as a mistake, so maybe we should have fixed it.

I just got another job shooting another one take video this weekend (my fourth), starting to become a trademark haha.

Terry, you have really created a fascinating dreamscape here coupled with a great track. This is artistic success at its finest. Don't worry about lip sync issues, if there even are any, I didn't notice. (Does anyone really hold any illusions that they are really singing anyhow???) Keep up the great work!!

Hey Terry,

Well congratulations on accomplishing that feat - getting a usable take out of a long shot like that is incredibly hard - I haven't tried it myself but I can imagine.

But there's one thing I'll say - it feels really slow. Was it shot in a high frame rate and slowed down? That seems to add to the drawn out feeling.

I'm just comparing your music video to the other one take shots like OK Go, that Jonnie Walker spot, a few of those Arts High School one takes, and of course Old Spice... stuff happens faster. I know that there's such a thing as slow pacing - but this is a music video - they were invented to destroy slow pacing...

Still, it was an excellent accomplishment.
