On-board mic settings

Hey, I'm just wondering what settings should be set in the camera for the best sound possible with the on-board mic.
Thanks,
Andrew

Well you need to be closer to your subject for the audio to sound good, but if you want DOF then you need to go far. If you turn up your audio levels to much all there is just noise. Get another mic.

I have used adobe audition to do some noise reduction, however, it is nowhere near as good as taking clean audio at the time of the shot. The more noise reduction you do, the worse the voice you are trying to keep sounds.

Agree with what was said. You can do a ton of noise reduction, then the voices sound shitty, then you try to fix those and get noise again. You will spend far to much time to end up with passable audio. Or you can invest a little bit of money at pick up a mic.

For about $45 you can rent a shotgun mic with boom pole and all that. The on-board mic on the camera is really for decoration only.
