Is it worth the $$$?
Maybe :)

Wide open it is sharper, at 2.8 there is some difference, at F4 I can't see a difference.
It is a beautiful lens, but I will keep my others as well.
ISO 800 F/2.8
Vivitar 55mm, Rokkor 50mm F/1.4, Olympus 45mm
Cinemode -1 0 0 -1
No processing of any kind.
Vivitar $13, Rokkor $35, Olympus $$$ :)
Focus set to the tiny hole in the top flap of the movie clapper.

That's true--I mean, the Olly is very sharp, but at F4 I didn't see any difference on video, of course on a chart of a still image there will be small differences. In my tests the differences start to disappear at F/2.8, where it is very hard to tell the lenses apart. Below F2.8 well of course you can see a difference.
I invite everyone to pick their favorite lens in the video of the three, and then I will post the lens IDs.

Calling all eagle eyed LBAs, vote on your lens! Are there any differences between $400 lenses and $13 lenses?Or is it all Smurf and Mirrors?

Well, I'm totally smurfed that no one else voted.
Here are the answers:
1. Olly 45mm
2. Vivitar 55mm macro
3. Rokkor 50mm F/1.4

I got the Oly 45/1.8 and a Super Takumar 50/1.4. The Tak is a touch soft @ F1.4, pretty sharp @ F2.0, and plenty sharp by F2.8. The Oly seems plenty sharp from F1.8. I had hoped to use it for video, but...

1 - the AF is good, but still not good enough for tracking subjects. It often shoots past its mark before coming back
2 - the barrel is so small that I'd really have to Frankenstein a follow-focus gear for it

So, for now, the Takumar will be used for video and the Oly for still. Win. Win.
