Offloading Kernel panic problems

Running Mac book pro 10.5.4 (duel adapter driver built in)
4 gig ram
P2CMS 1.3.7
Shotput P2 1.06
Duel adapter
most recent P2 driver.
32 gb card

every time i use shotput or p2cms I get a kernel panic and have to reboot my computer. I cannot sucessfully copy any footage that way. I can do drag and drop- I have one failure in 4 attempts, so it is mostly working.
so, after snooping around possible suspects are: maybe having 4 gig screws it up somehow. some people have been having better luck switching to 2 gig on computer. Not sure how to do that on mine. Just pull one module out? or do matching pairs need to be in?
also possible I need to revert to slightly older P2 driver. however I cannot do that as it sees there is a new driver already installed and won't let me proceed. I do not know how to uninstall newest driver so it will let me install previous one.
ANYONE with any suggestions, please advise. This is driving me up the wall.

I have sucesfully removed current p2 driver and installed the one reccomended by duel adapter. still no joy. I still get the whole system lock up and have to reboot.

I have the same set up as you, and when using Shotput p2 I also get a kernel panic repeatedly with the DA.

I don't use P2CMS.

Shotput will work with USB2 and Firewire connect modes as well without a problem.

Finder copy with the duel adapter works fine.

I've talked with the company about this and they cannot duplicate the kernel panic, but as aware that others have the issues as well.

I assume when you say "the company" you mean the Duel adapter people, right?

Also, more diagnostics. I have 4 GB ram, so I tried w just 2GB ram, then with other 2GB ram. Shotput aborts in both cases. (apparently kernel panics can come from bad ram...

ok, thank god i didn"t sell my old mac- I have been re upping it so I can use it for P2 useage. But now I find I can not use p2cms on it (not intel based) so I have no viewer, and can oly use the finder to copy. Which is exactly what I am trying to get away from. Panasonic, what gives? Laptop with proper card slot, almost no support. laptop w/out proper slot- better support but let 3rd party vendor come up w adapter, now mac, duel and panasonci spend all day pointing fingers at each other. come on people!
Anyway- another thought- I think, but can"t be sure- that this worked once upon a time on my new mac. Anyway, I will try and use time machine, maybe I set it up before this all went to hell. Only things I know I have loaded since are various RED camera software, and an esata card driver, which I did try to remove manually, and that didn't help, but maybe more is going on.....

No, I don't mean duel systems, but IP the maker of shotput.

That seems to be the rogue elephant in the equation.

I actually don't know who is at fault. It is really a 3 legged potato sack race.

Duel adapter: Duel Adapter recommends using the non current driver with their adapter. You can imagine what other problems using older driver with newer OS mac may cause. Panasonic doesn't seem to be writing driver with duel adapter in mind, which seems STUPID.

Shotput P2: normally when something crashes, first guess is the program writers. But in this case they have to support both the current and the previous driver, in whatever OS is working. and Panasonics program p2CMS gets kernel panics 100% of the time. sometimes shotput just crashes but doesn"t take whole computer with it. the fact that the finder can still copy using duel adapter makes it even more mysterious.

Panasonic: possibly writing drivers that conflict with the hardware and software out there. at the very least, the current driver and p2cms and duel adapter should work great on current OS. they do not. it is unusable. this takes some of the pressure off of Shotput.

I don't know what I would do if i didn"t have backup computer.
