Offload with a PC, edit with a Mac?

Who does it?
Does it work flawlessly?
Anything to watch out for?
First I was thinking of getting an old G4 Powerbook, but they are still pricey and also I rather trust sth new out of the box with warranty...
I was thinking of a Dell or a Samsung for under 700$ - any suggestions?

PS: Have the issues with the duel adapter been solved? I already got two MBP for capturing, so this would be an even better option...

The real issue is what external HD, FW or USB, you will overload to for transfer to a Mac. Also how it will be formatted.

So there is an issue?
Like using a transfer drive that can be read by both Mac and PC?
Any solutions?
If I used an REALLY old Powerbook, like the first G4 or even a G3, would there be any other issues when transfering to the MBPs?
Thanks David!

Mac can read FAT32 drives. PCs cannot read MacOS formatted drives unless you use MacDrive 6.

If the PB support FW target mode, and is in good shape, then why not stay all Mac.

As to "flawless," I don't use that term with video
