Well they're publicly saying ProRes, so that's got to be a good thing

I can say that all of those cameras are solid performers. They are under constant development, true, but what they have right now all works just fine. Sure you may have to go out of house for something but everyone does at times. Just the name of the game in this business. I'm sure you can find something that can help you til the FW release. You even have a whole forum board of advice!

The one who administrates the twitter account used several times "prores" in the past i think. So yes, the this the first time Convergent Design has officially used the word "Pro-Res," so hopefully that means today.
I do not understand why someone, working professional in this business, is willing to take any risks. Go, rent an F5 for this shoot., if this pays your bills and feeds your wife. Do not never ever use equipment, that is under development, if your vauable costumer expects a reliable service. Even, if there is a Firmware arriving days before your shoot.
i agree. but on the other hand, the way the product life cycle works now, a given piece of gear might be out there for nigh on a year before the dust settles and the conservative-minded production professional can be assured that they are purchasing a proven, relatively bug-free product that plays well in an established work-flow. which is to say, you may have given up a significant portion of the equipment's useable life span, or opportunity to get a return on your investment. it seems like a lot of people that do the best at capitalizing on new gear get in early and then get out just as quickly.
But, as it stands, this investment is losing money for me, because it's sitting on the shelf instead of on my cam.
Matt Allard has just reported the firmware release:
