Odyssey7Q February 2014 Firmware Update

Image looks great.

BUT, I noticed that Playback on the 7Q, I am getting all these crazy colors and glitches on the images.

It's only on Playback on the 7Q. When copied over to my Mac, the images look fine. I tried two different SSDs, and same results on Playback.

4K2HD wont replay in 4K mode?

Need to switch to "ProRes" mode to do that.

Says in the known issues file. Worth a read!

My "this is my desk in 4k" is subpar compared to cat tests so won't post. My cats were busy facing down the dog.

Amazing image and especially 4k2hd. Wow. And after I don't know how long ago I sent my fs700 in twice for 4k upgrades. I can finally record in 4k! (Not that I will probably on jobs till 4k compressed comes along.)

well done cd. I don't know if anyone else was waiting like me to see prores before ponying up for fs700 option.

But todays the day cd will receive my extra cash for fs700 option as well as probably some more ssds

Filming skiing tomorrow so a bunch of 2k raw in 120, and 1080 prores. Being able to mix cards will be awesome!!

To be totally honest... I'd almost take the drive swapping over the 3 minute mode switching.

Think about it: your slomo capacity is limited by the space on the smallest drive. Only 100GB left on SSD 1? Doesn't matter than SSD 2 is empty, since it writes 50/50. Your 120/240 recording will stop when SSD 1 is full.

It used to only take 10 seconds to reboot the 7Q into a different mode and you could swap drives while doing it (I've got four drives). Shooting on the same drive can be convenient, but the 3min reboot is a convenience killer.

This is exactly the reason I'm going to get a third 512GB drive.

Is it still taking you three minutes to switch? It literally takes 17 seconds on my 7q

Yeah, I'm rocking four 256gb. There isn't a monetary incentive ($/gig) to getting the 512GB and on top of that they take longer to unload, and for the same amount of $ you have less drives to shoot on while dumping footage.

It's only taking me 15-20 seconds to switch between formats on the 7q. Plus if it were a lift ride is three minutes at my mountain lol

I'm still in awe just looking at the side-by-side of the ProRes vs AVCHD, even though my little test shot was nothings special.

I remember when I got the FS700 and compared the sharpness to my DSLR footage, I couldn't believe how much better it was. This is like that all over again. The team at Convergent Design has done an awesome job with this.
