Odyssey7Q April 2014 Firmware Update

Well look at it this way: Other companies that allow "off the shelf" SSDs end up dealing with headaches and cheap drives don't work well... So you probably wouldn't save much money. Second, don't look at the codec fee as an up-charge. It breaks away components you won't use, so you don't have to pay for them! I know I'd rather pay $2300 + $795 for a codec than paying $6000 for an Odyssey7Q that does everything but I won't use 80% of the features/codecs.
What he said.

Hear hear.

Mitch, recarding the app are you considering to offer a possibility for 3rd party software developers to make their own apps for the Odyssey?

Now if they could only allow off the shelf SSDs (for 4KtoHD at least) and drop the codec fee... Then I could almost afford one!

That's what credit cards are for. Cry now, smile later. Personally, I'd rather just pay more and have less compatibility worries.

I'm glad firmware progress is being made. :)

I was partly joking and I'm well aware of their reasons for not using "normal" SSDs. But with cost of codec and pricey media I just cannot afford a 7Q.

I'm getting some weird colour rendition in the holographic mode. Also when in tea making mode, there doesn't seem to be any option for sugar? Anyone else seeing this? A bug perhaps.

I'm glad to see people have a sense of humr about things.

We never said there was going to be a firmware release today. I did say that I would have more news this week. But there's a lot of week left.

Is there any truth to the rumor that currently shipping O7Q are equipped with a small TSA approved KY lubrication? Is there a free update for current owners? Or do we just have to stick it out? Oops, sorry about that, we already did.

I'm taking this as code for: "We couldn't make the deadline again." What happened to the within 48 hours blurb that Amber mentioned? Some real info please.

OK, I called CD because I couldn't find any accurate info regarding the App. When I bought the 7Q, the App was advertised on the website "download the app now" or something and when you clicked it, it said something like "coming soon". It was pointed out last week that that link has since disappeared and all mention of it has been removed from the CD website. So I decided to call up and find out what's going on to (be honest, I've had enough of trying to get answers on this forum), as this was one of the big selling points for me.

Regarding the App, Amber didn't really seem to know what's going on with it. It's basically been put on the back burner and forgotten about. Apparently there's a new guy started and he's going to be in charge of building the app. This doesn't instill confidence to say the least.

While I was on the phone to her, I thought, I may as well ask about the next firmware update. The words that I heard were "the next firmware update will be ready to go in the next 48 hours" and I said, "so we'll be getting a firmware update in the next 48 hours" and she said "yes". Mitch has since informed me that I misheard Amber and that she actually said "a few days". Of course, Mitch is right and I in no way would argue with that.
