Odyssey7Q April 2014 Firmware Update

Hi Mitch, I know I've asked this a few times but just in case it's been overlooked, please could you ask about the app for Bluetooth? I understand that it's taken a backseat in favor of 4k ProRes and I fully agree with that. I'd just like to know if it's happening, as Amber said that she wasn't sure.

Thanks

I disagree with nothing you've said. I had the BMC and the firmware update took even longer with nothing in between for the original camera. I also strongly agree with you about the 4k solutions coming to market. Kinefinity is going to kick some ass in the coming months as production ramps up. I've seen some eye popping footage from them and they offer two flavors of compression cineform as well as compressed cinemadng. Mine should arrive in a couple of weeks.

It seems that a lot of these smaller companies - and I mean companies smaller than the likes of Sony, Panasonic etc seem to release products that are still half way through the design and production process in an effort to get the product out there rather than spending years in development. What's clear is that to design something like the O7Q takes a huge amount of effort, probably more than CD expected or planned for. Is that a good or bad thing? Pros and cons for both arguments I think but we certainly seem to be seeing more of that product release model.

what happened to the 4k video that CD was going to release prior to doing the 4k RAW deal with sony? I just want compressed, it doesn't need to be raw. The later release... hhaha what year does that come out?

and you said "But as one only gets one shot at a first impression", why? Your product's first impression has long set sail, just release new FW.

I bought this device for super slow motion without the 8 second limit and 4k compressed.. Yeah 4K raw it awesome but cumbersome.. But great job for 4k to HD it super sharp! wow! Cant wait for 4k compress..

can't login onto the new website Odyssey7Q.com, also can't send the password to my email adress, do I have to re-register?

I couldn't login, I did the "forgot username" and it emailed me the name (which was just my email address), then I clicked "forgot password" and it generated a key to reset my password. Now I'm logged in. No firmware update posted yet, though.

I tried that but my email wasn't found. I just created a new account but didn't add my device.

Oddly, the firmware page now shows 1.20.100 as the current version although the release date is older than the current 1.11.100 version. No files exist to download though. Looks like its in a bit of a mess still.

I guess, upload timestamps reflect the Upload to the new content management system.

Erich might have set up the new structure during several weeks.

Well that's my new favorite post.

Announcements coming soon.

Ooorrrr... is that spam post an elaborate ruse by yourself, Mitch, to distract us and get us talking about something else in this thread for a while? Hmmmm????

*puts my aluminum foil hat back on and sits in the dark by the window watching for suspicious activity*

No just lots of errors on the new website I think. Lots of incorrect info that's getting sorted I believe.

And Mitch has already said that they have a policy of only releasing firmware on mon/tue, so I'm expecting there will be an announcement today followed by firmware next week maybe? Can still hope there will be something to play with over the weekend though but don't necessarily expect it.

Mitch, are you deliberately ignoring my question regarding the App? Can you tell me, is it happening at some point or not?
