Odyssey7 & Odyssey7Q Status Update

I have tried that multiple times and have spoke to Dan and just left a message for Amber. After I login, that is as far as I can get with no permission to access the activation window. Hopefully it will get sorted out soon.

All fine now. I got in touch with Amber and she processed my registration and the activation code came right up. Already did the version upgrade released on 4/15. I suggested to her in the future, a few additional recording options would be helpful for recording corporate and webcast proxies on the quad split like mpeg and/or 1280 x 720 flavors when higher quality codecs aren't needed. Time will tell.

That's good. You can play now :)

yes options like that would be good. Trouble is, there's such a bit list of things for them to do and they take a while to program.

HI, I got the new 16.06 update but ever since the update my copys of adobe software cant show the content of the clips anymore. In premiere its all green and in AE allblack which means that it cant show image data. The analasis option via Encore says that its an 720 by 5(something) file in 29.9fps yet the media browser sees it as a 1920*1080 25fps. thats the only off thign that ive managed to find. Davinci Resolve plays the files and Windows media player plays the files but nothing else does.

any ideas?

I have the 7Q, but i'm thinking of getting the 7Q+ in order to use it with my a6300 as well.

Except i'm not too in to the idea of buying the RAW bundle all over again for a new device. So, my question is...

If i do NOT buy the RAW bundle, would i still be able to take the slog2 signal and record to ProRes?

I never really record in RAW. Always ProRes. Do i need the bundle?

Thanks!

No im on CS6. Emailed Jim Beethe allready.
If you are still using CS6 then you have answered your own question. Adobe and Convergent Design have worked together to address the issues with the compatibility of our files. Using the latest versions of our respective products will produce proper results.

You need the RAW Bundle if you are going to utilize a RAW data signal coming out of one of the supported cameras. Whether you use that RAW output from the camera to record a RAW file or take that RAW signal, process it into video and then record it as Apple ProRes, you are still utilizing the RAW data output from the camera so the RAW Bundle is required.

If you are going to use a standard video signal output from a camera such as the one output by the a6300, then the RAW Bundle is not needed.

Dear Mitch, I'm running Adobe Premiere CC 2015.2 and I have the green footage problem, too. I recorded from the A7sII with the Odyssey 7q+ to UHD Prores HQ 25p. The clips were copied off the CD SSDs without the Prores transfer tool.

The first shooting day I had not installed the current Firmware onto the Odyssey yet. The footage with the old firmware shows up fine in Premiere. All clips with the current firmware show up green, only sound works in premiere. VLC Player plays back all footage fine, although it shows a decoding error message at the beginning.
If the clip properties are looked at within premiere the clips that run fine are shown as "Prores HQ" and those that are green show as "Prores H".

The recorder itself had some glitches while playback. It never played back a clip right away, it continuously showed the same frame after hitting play until I would hit pause and play again. Then it would play back the clip.

I tried on two different windows machines now with two different Premiere CC versions. Same problem.

OK, please both of you be in contact with our Tech Support at cdsupport@convergent-design.com, or you can reach them by filing a Support Ticket via our website or by calling our office in Colorado during business hours. I don't regularly use Premiere and I'm not Windows-based, so there's little I can do to help. But we do have trained engineers on staff to help. If there is a problem in what we are doing then we will address it promptly. But you really need to go through them.

I have alerted our staff to this issue.

I have the exact same problem with the O7Q+ with FS700: all Prores flavours (LT, 422 and HQ) just show a green screen in Premiere CC (updated to latest). Nothing to work with.

Going back to older firmware for now again. You guys really need to test the new firmware's a lot better since every time there are some bugs in it that makes using the O7Q+ not reliable on big productions anymore...

Our engineers are studying this, and it appears that there may be something in the code that effects Windows users who do not use our CD Apple ProRes Transfer Tool. Until it can be addressed otherwise, the suggestion is to run the footage through our free Transfer Tool app, and this should correct the problem. If you use it as the program to offload from the SSD then there is no additional work required and all your clips will be properly merged as a bonus. Even if you do not wish to use it for the initial transfer, you can always copy from one folder to another in order to correctly process your files.

I will provide more updates as our Engineering team lets me know and if there is something to be addressed on our end we will do so in our next update.

Jim beethe suggested relocating the prores files via the convergent transfertool. So far that worked for me. so thankfully i still have my soldiersCLIP0000003 2 (12-47-52-08).jpg

I had the same problem but seeing that nobody complained, I said to myself "it comes from me". Quicktime, or ... and as I do shoot almost only in Raw ...
Good news. I have come this close to buying an inferno!

The transfer tool does not support checksum verification right?
No, although we have asked the programmers to expand the tool in the future so that it does so.

If you wish to do checksum verification with a program like Shotput Pro, after that step you can then run the files through the CD tool.

I stop using Convergent transfer/combining tool. I found that having PRORES files 4G chunk is great.
I distribute groups of 4G files to a rendering farms - so each machine apply the LUT, cleanup noise, etc to each 4G PRORES file
then compress down to H.264 at highest bitrate - then the next morning, I can pull all those into Adobe and edit.
if some file doesn't come out correct, it is just a matter of re processing that 4G chunk file. This save a lot of time
rather than wait for the combining tool, then edit a hundred gig byte PRORES file then try to render that gigantic PRORES file.
