Odyssey 7Q Firmware 2.11.110

i havent updated yet but I had a similar issue. The unit would not power on at all. I had to pull the plug and reinsert, then it turned on normally. This happened twice on yesterdays shoot. Also had some glitches on playback. Never had it happen before. Im on previous fw though as stated.
Please report such issues to cdsupport - at convergent-design - dot - com. We can only help you if you let us know.

Excited to have 4K2HD in 60p. After the update I noticed really bad interlacing when just using the 7Q as a monitor on the FS700. Made it hard to get accurate focus. Didn't have this problem before the update.
In what mode? Make sure you have the Odyssey7Q set properly between Progressive/PSF v. Interlaced. It's in the * -> RECORD menu settings.

Any chance for Prores 422 / LT implementations with the next (4K) update?
To finally have 50p is great by the way.

Is it possible to record 4K2HD at 50fps and have the project frame rate as 25fps so you can view the footage in slow motion?

in the 7Q? I have no idea but I doubt it.
In general in your NLE no problem. In FCP X you throw it in a 25p project (formerly called timeline) and you can choose whether it shall be adapted (50p converted to 25p) or played frame by frame -> 50p becomes double length

Its possible — see it in the support document, you can play at 30fps as slowmotion

Ok, I could not find anything in the support document but I tested and Odyssey 7Q actually plays back 4K2HD 50p material automatically at 25fps slow motion. Thats what Ill be using it for so great. I guess you still need to conform it in NLE though.

Just installed software and I can't wait to go do some camera tests today. Psyched on the 60fps 4K2HD.

I know it's been reported, but I did notice the zoom, finger drag bug where the screen goes black and comes back when dragged back towards center of screen.

how do i install the firmware again. i put the file on the ssd in slot 1 and turned it on. was i supposed to hold something? i dont remember , lol

I reported that. It was only when dragging to the top left that the screen went black - is that the same for yours? Good to know you've seen it too.

I ran a short test with the new FW this afternoon and I have to say I found a significant green/magenta color cast on skin tones in 4K2HD sLOG2. I compared it to 2K RAW which looked way better (standard processing to ProRes [ 1) Master Project settings - Color Science: ACES 2) Camera RAW: Cinema DNG - Decode Using: Project - White Balance: As Shot - Color Space: BMD Film - Gamma: BMD Film - Highlight Recover: Check 3) Exposure +2.2 4) No LUT 5) No further correction, also no contrast change]

I went back to 2.10 and and ran another test again and it looked much better and no big difference to 2K RAW. I have a two day shooting from Tuesday on but no more time to test tomorrow. I will stay at 2.10 for the moment - can anybody confirm my experience?

I happen to have footage with both firmwares shot with the same person, same location and lens. Slightly different light and I did shoot to test the new 4K2HD 50p only so take this with a pinch of salt but I see no difference in the 4K2HD footage comparing the previous and new firmware. Looks pretty much identical when imported to Premiere Pro.

Hey Clermond,

You got me all paranoid so I did some pixel peeping tests today. 4K2HD and AVCHD S-Log seems pretty close. On a number shots, it seems like:

1) 7Q Slog is slightly warmer than AVCHD. 5400K on 7Q looks like 5600K AVCHD
2) 7Q Slog, you can see a bit more into the blacks on low light shots than AVCHD Slog

Here's a frame to rest your mind. AVCHD S-Log and 7Q S-Log seem pretty close, at least on my unit.AVCHD_7Q_01.jpg

thanks Gene for your testing. I ran another comparison today and there is no difference between FW 2.10 and FW 2.11
