Nov 1 Status Check

8 speaking parts? that should be fun. we had a hard enough time finding 4 for a short we did a little while ago.

at least you got another 'guy' to work with. right now i'm the only guy i got. plus, being still in high school, most of my options for actors are teenage, so that's hard to write around. i'm trying to find adult actors...
AR you kidding? Ever read "Against the Fall of Night?" It is the definition of a teenage sci-fi, even though there is only one teen in it. There is just so much potential in sci-fi for future worlds without adults, genetic viruses that make you die at 20, teenage armies battling for control of the world, spaceship "coming of age" flick, 12 horny teens and a robot, how much help do you need? :)

lol, yea there's a lot of possibilities, it's just most of the stories i was coming up with, and the basic direction i was going, kids wouldn't really fit, or i'd need at least one adult. but i dunno, 12 horny teens and a robot, that has potential.

i think it's time to rethink my direction of thought.

We're working on the third draft of the script and I'll probably start working on the first production breakdown over the weekend. While the shoot in terms of locations and actors is pretty straightforward, we're dealing with some complex practical effects that are going to take some very careful planning. Hopefully we'll be rolling in early January.

Great suggestions for him...hell, he could do a condensed version of "Logan's Run" (only lower the "cut-off" age to 18.)

well I finally have an idea ...

my sci fi short is going to be about a cowboy-conman who travels from town with a human-eating alien and he then lets it loose on people so he can claim a reward after "saving them"

Hey!!! That's my idea too!!! :embarasse

If I had infinite time and money I would do it as a gag.
I was thinking you could just replace the Zombie shots in Texas Fortune with alien shots, that's only like 3 or 4 shots, and they only call him "my friend" I think so the text could stand, lol.

How about Alien vs Zombies

or a story of an Alien being quarantined after being bitten by .....

Nov. 9th

Will finish first draft of script tonight, and have begun lining up actors. Already have the lead cast, and need about two more major parts cast.

My co-writer/co-director will not be in town until the end of Dec. when we will shoot the film over the course of a few nights, and one day shoot.

Sript complete...actors, most equipment, and location secured. I'm struggling with keeping it under 6 minutes right now which may require deleting some scenes...not happy about that cause I like the original pacing and story development. But...guess that's part of the challenge.

Has anyone posted anything about winner consolations? Prizes? etc...?

Nah, you're not alone... Though, I don't know why you would worry. Give it a month or two, a hurricane comes and you'll pop out some Space Sheds 12,5 secs before the deadline
