Not really Shallow DOF and other debates

Here's just a quick photoshop version. If the focus was to be the shoe.

It still doesnt look right, I think this is beacause real shallow DOF is actually a "progressive" blur, i.e in the photoshop job the blur is constant, where as in real shallow DOF, the blur gets pregessively blurred. Thats why its nealry impossible to do shallow DOF in post,

maybe with some motion traking and custom made scripts in an NLE one could make a fake Shallow DOF "plugin"

I don't know, but I've never heard of one (probably a good reason why)

EDIT OK this one a little better, you posted before I did hence the update, I was referring to the pic before yours

yeah, that one is better, however, to do that frame by frame, it just seems like it's too much work in post to make the dvx do something that it's not supposed to do. I say just wait untill there are cheaper 35 mm adapters.

and then there is the question of bokah, which no photoshop blur can reproduce.

Is that a challenge? And what the smell are you talking about? Here I did a new one, its really quite neat...sort of an abstract depth of feild focused on an imaginary star. Really quite hard to achieve practically, but fairly simple in post.

Peter, that is abstract... yet says "I am art, in the hands of an artist". I am at awe. Too bad there are hardly any filmmakers out there trying to use "art" in their work. :) LOL LOL LOL LOL
