NORRIS - A Matt Sconce Film - Aftershock Studios

Looks very well ok.. Only sound effects whise... I find it could be better

Footsteps --> sounds to much the same

Hittings -> also to much the same

Yeah, I agree. We are not done with the sound. We have a lot more work to do before submitting it to festivals by July. Thanks for checking it out.

LOL, yeah, we really put this together quickly to show off the rig. The priority for us is completion of our feature STRICKEN. We worked on cinematography and aimed to fix the sound before sending it to a festival.

Well it's surly important to finish what has to be finished first.

True. The VFX for STRICKEN is going really well. Sound design is half way done and all is on schedule.

For NORRIS, we will be tweaking the sound to what we really want for festivals and then sending it out to the Action on Film Festival for consideration. I am really excited about the cinematography on NORRIS as some of the shots were unique to this film. Matt really did a good job on the choices of the shots and the camera movement; considering he was the first Director to ever use the Aftershock Maelstrom spincam device in any film. Heck, we still don't know all the shots the thing can get! You don't even see the low rig sled shots in the short... and that part of the device is amazing. :engel017:

We are getting some funny nice comments on youtube.com. I am happy the short is making people laugh. The more I watch it the more I like the shots Matt chose and the movement of the camera when he used the bodymount attachments to shoot away from himself. I am biased, but he is sure good at what he does.

For those of you new to this thread, the ENTIRE short was a test, and was shot with a new bodycam invention and its attachments. There are NO tripod mounted shots, camera being held in hand shots or traditional steadycam shots in the short at all. It is all shot with the Aftershock Bodycam and attachments including the new patent pending Maelstrom spincam attachment. And, we had a load of fun shooting it! :engel017:

Norris went over 500 views on youtube.com with some nice comments too. Thanks all for viewing our little fun short. :)

It is a test of the Aftershock Bodycam with the Maelstrom spincam attachment.

I you haven't seen it, check it out. It is posted in this thread near the front. :engel017:

We have posted a video on VIMEO highlighting the Aftershock SPINCAM we will be using on our next feature. Here is the vid:

Enjoy! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Now that Matt is done with VFX for Stricken, we will be able to get NORRIS tweaked for AOF.

We need to tweak some VFX and sound. I love watching Troy Ruff's face as he runs away in that scene! LOL! What a funny guy. :2vrolijk_08:

Norris just got an AOF face lift today. Matt tweaked the sound design. I hope the AOF people notice the cinematography where Matt used the Aftershock SpinRig... The shots are even amazing to me and I built the blammed thing. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

This thing looks great! How much?

Not for sale yet but I foresee it being sold for between $1k and $2k. I honestly don't have the time to manufacture it in large numbers as we have a very aggressive schedule of features to shoot over the next few years at Aftershock Studios. Thank you so much for the compliment! :cheesy:

I am working on another attachment that will do something very cool and different too. After STRICKEN our feature gets distributed I will have the time to build a 'Godzilla' version of the SpinRig out of all aluminum alloy. Check out the DIY Aftershock Bodycam thread and see the comments posted when I put up a pic of the device for two days before removing it. They were very nice. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I am excited to be at Action on Film Festival in Pasadena, CA at the end of July. I will possibly bring the SpinRig that shot NORRIS there and film with it to show some of the DP's what they can do with it. It is patent pending, but I want to only display it in a limited fashion. :lipsrseal

NORRIS has been mailed to Action on Film! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Here is the short again for those who haven't seen it. We used the Aftershock Studios SpinRig (new name) for all the shots in this short to show how versatile it is. We had so much fun making this and were laughing all evening during the shoot.

Why is the font for the credits the same as Stricken? At least it looks the same...

I am not sure if it is actually the same, but it is close. I bet it is because Matt thinks it looks cool... and it IS cool... so it is OK. Hehehehehe. Good eye though Brandon! The STRICKEN font is filled with interesting stuff and the NORRIS font is just monotone-ish.

I have teased Matt to put NORRIS on before STRICKEN, kind of like a cartoon before the feature in the 1950's at a drive in... but NO. :( (*sob*)

Just because something looks cool does NOT make it OK. Just so you know. I'd be careful with having everything the same font... I think each film should have it's own unique style, personally.

I'd strongly urge you to do un-biased focus groups and see what works and what doesn't work. We did that for NGL and changed several very problematic sections for people, and had a better product in the end.

Just trying to help :)
