Noktor m4/3 f0.95 lens introduced with sample GH1 videos

On my iPhone so will comment on video later. $750. Reader comments say it is too soft for stills but usable for video. No electronic focus pins so readers worry about enhanced focus function being disabled. They also worry about brokeh. The Canon f0.95 was no chart wizzard but still produces some good videos.

Note added later: Yes, the video (http://vimeo.com/9820219) looks extremely soft with possible internal flares reducing contrast, but the video was of a man holding a burning torch - not the easiest to film. Soon Philip Bloom will post his review and we will see how it fares in the hands of an expert.

Soft Soft Soft.

LOL the comments from some of these people. It's a damn 0.95! What the hell do they think it's going to look like. I bet most of them commenting have never used anything that fast in their life.

I think it looks pretty good.

Thats the only way to get 60fps on the Gh1

Really? You don't say? Let me rephrase that. Why the hell did they shoot it at 60 fps? Generally, when shooting low-light, less frames/second, a slower shutter, and of course the sharper 1080 resolution when people are going to be worried about lens sharpness might be a good idea.

However, I wasn't aware that the 720/60p mode on the Gh1 minimized banding...but it certainly isn't present, here. Interesting. That would explain it...

Yah I'm pretty sure this is their first lens. But it looks like a pretty solid lens to me.. of course I never used it before...

Noktor is reselling a CCTV lens that is made by a Japanese optics company and is currently sold by some other companies, including Senko.

Maybe I shouldn't complaint but 2ft minimum focus distance = ouch.

That seems pretty standard for a 50mm. Keep in mind that on m4/3 it's a 100mm so focusing at 2ft with your 100mm isn't too bad.

That said, close focus stuff is awesome...I was playing around with a 60mm Nikkor macro on my GH1, which makes it a 120mm that can focus basically right on top of the lens...amazing...things were HUGE.
