C200: Noise reduction & raw

The C200 (and other Canon cinema cameras) have on chip noise cancellation. Indeed, this is the primary function of the dual pixel approach. Together wit on chip electronics they claim a 3 stop gain in dynamic range (through a lowered noise floor). So that advantage is burned into the RAW file. This is likely the reason gain is also burned in. Here is a paper of interest: http://learn.usa.canon.com/app/pdfs/white_papers/Deep-Dive-HDR-Part1.pdf

It is worth noting that one of the canon provided LUTs converts from Clog2 to Clog3 which pushed the bottom end to black. This reduces dynamic range but it also hides most of the noise. FCPx gives converts RAW to clog 2 so this is a quick way to lower noise in some cases.

Iv been shooting raw with the C300 mkii and I'm confused as to why it's literally half the luminance of what you're shooting / monitoring on screen. Very noisy prores which I don't use.... But why does raw not match the same IRE value as internal?
