No Video, only Audio

Hello,

Sorry if this is a repeated thread, but I couldn't find it in a short search.

I have worked successfully in the past with mxf files using a g5 and FCP6.

But I am now working on my own earlier model system (g4 dual 1 with FCP 5.0.4) and am running into issues.

I have shot footage on an HVX200 in 720p/24pn.

When I try to import P2 files into FCP, I get the following error:
"One or more P2 clips failed to import, probable incomplete or corrupt clips."

Additionally, with Easy Setup set to DVC PRO HD 720p, when opening the project I get the error:
"Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card."

When trying to view clips on my G4, I hear audio but see no video.

My external drive is a G-Tech on FW800, so I don't think that is the issue.

Am I missing some codec? According to the Panasonic specs, 5.0.4 should be enough.

That paper says it can be ingested but not captured. Also, this is a broader issue, as the clips don't play in QT either.

I am starting to think it has something to do with QT Pro codecs.

That's correct, because the HVX200 will not stream pN modes out FW.

I would first look in your QT folder to see if you have the DVCProHD codecs in in it.

Where would I find that? I think you're on to something because I don't see that in the FCP Easy Setups/English folder.

How do I add it to either place?

The path is your Hard Drive, then Library and then QuickTime folder.

If you don't have the DVCProHD codecs, you can play DVCProHD footage generally.

there are third party codecs out there, and I don't know if what you mentioned is one.
