No actors required

Off topic...for just a second. Someone should put together a DVXUser Actors database, kind of like that composers list a while back. :)

Back to topic...It's the soul that the live actor brings to the table.

Heres another take:

CGI for monsters/unreal fictional characters/ and or un-natural human movements/action

real life for real human characters

Because the sheer amount of effort spent on making a character, might as well be spent on making a character that does not exist (like a monster etc) and not something that can be shot on film.

That's exactly the way I see it.

Great sig, Anhar, and great take on the whole CGI thing.

btw, You may want to change the spelling of the word "bases" to "basis".

:nads: [wow], I never spotted that damn it ... :furious3: I can't believe it, I need to update it arrh I'll do it laters...

Well, that being said i still have a soft spot in my heart for CGI flicks such as 'Cars'. I mean come on, you can't not like that show. Its just so good natured and...nice! (Ok i might be imposing my views on people here...don't worry feel free to go against it...I won't hold a grudge on you or anything)

I would disagree even here. The thing that sold Jurrassic Park, for instance, was the fact that when the Dinos were interacting with humans in CU, they were actually life-sized animatronic puppets, NOT CGI. I think this was key to selling the CGI portions of that movie and making us believe in the dinos. I still think there is a lot to be said for even fantastical creatures actually occupying the same physical space as the actor.

Viva puppets!!!! :)

The Raptors were CGI right? Only a few were actual animatronics if I recall such as Mr. Rex and the Triceratops.

well the only way to go is...............................................cloning.....yes that's the ticket!............. it'll be cheaper to make a replica of that high priced actor with her/his body parts........... can you imagine...................PORN would be outrages to watch!

Speaking of which, I just saw "The Island" last night... that was trippy...

Even though CGI techniques advance each year, for instance Motion Capture has improve much lately... but you still need the actor to play the data. The Polar Express is a good example of the latest mo-cap technology, sometimes you wonder if the virtual humans are virtual or real.
