No 4pin Firewire on my Mac

Help!

I need to get my P2 card downloaded onto my Mac Tower. I have a 6 pin Firewire and and other firewire (8pin?). Whatever it is, I can't fit the 4 pin wire into it. What other ways can I get the mac to see my HVX 170 Camera? Tried USB as well, just in case it would've worked.

You can't go 6pin to 6pin for offloading?

Alright, so i guess my questions will just get dumber and dumber as the day goes by....I assumed that the bigger plug (the one that looks like a fat "D") was the 6pin.

I do not see a 4pin plug on my camera.

i haven't seen any other posts like this, so I know I must be doing something stupid. What am I missing?

Thanks for your help :)

Daarrgh! :) So many cameras, so many outputs, so careless of me to type on the run. Of course the 171 has only a 6-pin port; other cams have the 4-pin.

I'm confused now on what you have, though . . .

Does your Mac have a port which matches the port on the 171? If so, use a 6-pin to 6-pin cable.

Or does it have only a Firewire 800 port? In that case, there are adapters available.

Why not tell us which Mac you have?

For example, the MacPro 2009s only have FW800 as do some later unibody MacBook Pros as well as the ones just released.

A Mac Tower can be a Intel Mac or G5.

But this type of info should be in the first post.

And USB2 works fine on our MacPros. We prefer it over FW due to the lower power issues.

As to what type of FW you have go here:
