this is a pic i snapped (with a D70s) while shooting a music video on my DVX.

nice ones, iposiniditos. Love the desaturated look. the frog could use just an inch more focus, but eh.

Here's two more from me:

Jumalian... beautiful landscapes... I love the wetlands pic the best.

Ipo... you're a natural portrait photog.

No Cash... where were you in the addiction contest?

Sonic... that summertime shot kicks ass... you're making me miss Cali.

Doug... good stuff... I like the eye in the top one.

Jeremy (man it's gonna' be hard to stop saying "yankee") that dog rocks. My ex-sister-in-law has a poodle named Charlie that's just like a freakin' ewok... your shots are coming out so good in that studio setup that I think I'm gonna' pay her a visit... I like the shots where Yogi appears more of a creamy white then an HMI white... now I wonder which are the truest color? Cream I would guess? (or are they warmed up a bit?) Either way that is one cute dog.

I was down at Shaw's Garden AKA The Missouri Botanical Garden yesterday... took a lot of snaps... that would have been the intelligent place to go for the Summertime shots, but it's a ways away and I had other things keeping me busy... check out this little guy on my fingertips... I got 4 snaps off before he flew away... so I had time to pivot my body and watch the BG for the colors I wanted... it was a pretty cool moment. I'll post another pic to show what the things in the BG are ;-)

MattinSTL,

that dragonfly (that's what he is right?) pic is amazing. INSANE color. What lens? The DOF is crazy cool.

D70s, right?

that pic should be blown up and hanging on a wall somewhere.

I found this old guy hanging around the Newport Pier one day. I bet this guy has some stories. I snapped the B/W one first. Then I asked if i could take his picture. He kind of shrugged, as if he weren't worthy of it, and smiled and said 'Sure..' He seemed to be enjoying himself just doing nothing on the pier on a beautiful day.

Thanks Murf... Yes, D70s.

I wish I had a macro but that was taken with the stock 18-70mm kit lens. If you look at the girl at the very edge of the right on top... midway up the pic... that is about where I was standing when this little guy thought he was landing on a plant... it was cool because I was already kneeling when he landed not too far from my hand... I gently pushed my hand towards him and he just climbed on... so then I popped as many shots as fast as I could while watching the BG for some color... those things in the water are Chihuly glass so that made an ideal colorful BG... it was just a matter of pivoting until I could get a good mix of color surrounding him without overlapping his own color... fortunately he stayed there for a couple seconds.

For anybody in or near STL... you gotta' see the gardens... it's crazy beautiful.

Here's another shot of some Chihuly glass in a rowboat... great colors.

I love that B&W shot Murf... that is a fantastic shot... old guy overlooking a young man's scene... There's more said in that shot then you may have originally thought about. (or maybe that's why you snapped the shot at the time!)

Hey I hate to get post-crazy here, but I shot a sh*tload of pictures this weekend... On friday night my nephew played football and I decided to just run out there with my rig like I owned the joint... amazingly enough nobody said one word to me... I've got a bunch of good shots that are more personal then this... but this shot is still my favorite.

I took my parents to the Saint Louis Fair and Airshow in Chesterfield... (15 minutes away)... and my parents had an okay time, but man airshows are so freakin' boring! They're great for about 10 minutes but then I just start to lose interest... here's a shot from about 30 minutes in a routine called "David versus Goliath"... y-a-w-n... man I was so bored... I wish they'd make these things halfway interesting.

Matt,

Of course you're kidding right! I actually said "...HOLY SH**....." as I was scrolling down looking at that airshow pic. You don't know what's going on in that picture. I like how the jet is halfway out of the frame. It actually looks like some kind of collision.

Yeah that old guy was cool. He was just hanging by himself. He had so much character. Thanks for the compliments.

Whats this i've been coming across about reversing a lens to make it macro?
I've heard it been mentioned when refering to the 17-55 stock lens but never really asked what it ment? Is it litteraly reversing the lens on the camera lol?
Is it safe?
Someone please fill me in haha.

Sorry that I've been MIA guys... 5 days in a row of only 3-4 hours of sleep... 16 hour shoot days for some goofy project.

Here's some crap out of the d70s from TODAY... Yay! Now I get to go to bed for 3 hours... I had to post something... I was going through withdrawal. Everybody thinks I was kidnapped... I didn't think this feature would be so much work to shoot... This is obviously BTS between or after takes... whoopie... 3 hours... D'oh!

Matt,

If you don't mind me asking, what gear are you using for that project?

Lenses, cams, etc. which one's the 85mm.

looks very interesting..

PS: i've heard it a lot but what does 'bokeh' mean

bokeh is the shape, feel, and pressence of the out of focus area of an image.

This image has a lot of bokeh... whether it is good bokeh or bad bokeh is up to interpretation
